Resident Evil Requiem Showcase Coming Soon, But That’s Not All

Capcom is starting to ramp things up for Resident Evil Requiem, which means we will not have to wait much longer for new details about the game. The company has confirmed that a new Resident Evil Showcase will happen in early 2026, right ahead of the game’s release on February 27.

No further details have been shared yet, but the timing makes it pretty clear what this is about. Requiem is entering its final promo phase, and this showcase is likely where we will finally get a proper look at gameplay. After Leon S. Kennedy was revealed as the second playable character, expectations are high that Capcom is ready to show how everything actually comes together.

What Requiem Really Means For Its Characters

Producer Masato Kumazawa also talked about the meaning behind the title Requiem, and it is not meant as a single message. For Grace, the new protagonist and daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil: Outbreak, it relates to her mother’s past and the lingering scars of Raccoon City. Her playable sections are more about classic survival horror, with a strong focus on fear and tension.

For Leon, things stay intentionally vague. Kumazawa hints that Requiem connects to Leon’s unresolved past and his history with Raccoon City, but the full meaning is being kept a secret now.

A Few Notes For New And Returning Players

Capcom also shared a bit of guidance for players who are jumping in. Requiem was created to work on its own, but playing Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake is recommended if you want more context around Leon and Raccoon City. In terms of the overall feeling for RE: Requiem, the horror is said to be closer to RE2 than RE7, tense and unsettling, but not overwhelming.

Requiem Is Not The End Of The Series

Kumazawa also addressed some of the speculation around the title itself. Even though the name and the timing around the series’ 30th anniversary are a bit suspicious, Requiem is not meant to be the end of Resident Evil or the Umbrella storyline. Capcom has already made it clear that more games are planned. Rather than a hard reset, the idea is to slowly bring in new characters over time, while long-time faces like Leon are still part of the picture.
