RV There Yet? Sells 1.3 Million Copies After Only 3 Months of Development

RV There Yet? released last week on October 21st and completely blew up over the last weekend on social media platforms. The game, developed by Swedish indie developer Nuggets Entertainment, managed to sell over 1.3 million copies and launched as the #3 Steam Top Seller. Confirmed by the game’s community manager, Jace Varlet, check out the following announcement video!

What is RV There Yet?

Clearly inspired by various chaotic (and very clippable) co-op experiences such as Lethal Company, REPO, and PEAK, RV There Yet developed as a game-jam game in only 3 months. In the game, you and up to 3 friends will drive to your destination in increasingly difficult and outright absurd terrain such as mountains, cliffs and completely missing bridges.

These physics-based co-op games usually end up with some absurd moments which have been clipped and shared all across YouTube and Twitch, helping bolster its numbers.

Just trying to set a deadline and finish a project, the game didn’t even have custom keybinds and launched with some major bugs they will be addressing in future updates. And yet, even after the video was posted, a day later the game peaked at just under 100,000 concurrent players on Steam.

Any Future Plans for RV There Yet?

Jace confirmed there were missing features and bugs because of the team’s limited scope, and that the game exceeded their wildest expectations. Over the next few weeks, their priority will be fixing the major bugs and performance issues, as well as including any missing features.

He did allude to the possibility of new maps or procedural generation, but the game’s limited scope is a major reason for its success. So as of right now, it’s not clear where the game will go from here.

AMONG THE WILD – Nuggets Entertainment’s Real Project

Interestingly, RV There Yet? isn’t actually Nuggets Entertainment’s focus. Instead, it was an extended 3-month game-jam game with a set deadline they wanted to release while taking a break from their major project AMONG THE WILD. AMONG THE WILD is a first-person farming game which they’ve been working on since 2023.

Ironically for the indie studio, there is a possibility that RV There Yet? will become their most successful title 👀. Afterall, breakout indie hits such as RV There Yet? are like catching lightning in a bottle.

AMONG THE WILD has been getting a steady stream of followers and wishlists since its announcement trailer in 2024. But it seems so far, even after reaching top seller on steam, it won’t make people instantly aware of Nuggets Entertainment’s other projects. From what we see, the needle hasn’t moved much since RV There Yet?‘s launch.

Still, when they share the game and progress updates to their current audience more, they should see some cross-pollination from the game’s fans. Here’s to hoping for another exciting release!

Another Indie Breakout Success

The co-op chaos genre seems to have an infinite amount of potential and demand lately, as indie developers keep churning out these small projects with a tight scope. Sometimes, these games are dismissed as streamer-bait or ‘friend-slop‘, but the numbers prove otherwise.

There is always room for more games in the market to share laughs with friends. Or, in RV There Yet?‘s case, a cigarette. Make sure to check out the game over on Steam if you haven’t already!
