Santa Monica Studio, the team behind the God of War franchise, is apparently deep into development of its next major title, and while details remain under wraps, it sounds like things are going smoothly…
Recently, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier responded to a question on the ResetEra forums regarding the next game directed by Cory Barlog at Santa Monica Studio.
The latest information indicates that the project is going well and is expected to be the studio’s “next big thing.”

As discussions continued, questions arose about whether Santa Monica Studio’s upcoming game would be another installment in the God of War series or a completely new intellectual property. Schreier contributed to the conversation by asking, “Why does everybody think Barlog’s game is a new IP?” This prompted additional speculation among fans.
In a final comment, Schreier clarified that the new game is not a new IP, but it might feel like one, which could explain the confusion surrounding it. He urged fans, “Please don’t ask me more questions about this – if I have more information to share in the future, it will be in an article, not on a forum.” He also confirmed that Ashhong is credible and dismissed the long-standing rumors of a sci-fi theme as “nonsense.”
Could this be a new God of War game, or perhaps a revival of an older IP that Santa Monica Studio hasn’t explored in a while? As a result, theories and speculations have emerged, with some Reddit users making guesses and sharing jokes about what the new game could be.
