FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed title, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, is finally receiving an anime adaptation titled Sekiro: No Defeat. The anime is set to come to Crunchyroll in 2026.
The announcement was made during the Gamescom Opening Night Live event with an official trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation. Judging from the trailer, the adaptation will stay true to the source and showcase the events of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice as they occur.
The Sekiro Anime Adaptation Is Finally Here
It has long been speculated that an adaptation for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is in the works. However, there had been no solid evidence of the actual progress on it. Recently, Kodakawa, which is FromSoftware’s parent company, registered a domain titled Sekiro-Anime.JP.
The domain registration was solid proof that an anime adaptation is coming soon, but no actual date was given, and it was expected to come out in the next few years. However, all of a sudden, at the Gamescom Opening Night Live event, Sekiro: No Defeat was announced, alongside many other popular titles.
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long for the anime adaptation to come out. Sekiro: No Defeat will be coming next year exclusively on Crunchyroll, which is one of the popular anime streaming platforms.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice came out in 2019 and was a massive success, even winning the Game of the Year Award that year. However, FromSoftware didn’t release any sequels or any meaningful additional content for the game since then.
The official trailer showcased the fight between Wolf and Genichiro, who is one of the antagonists of the game. The trailer also showed the Divine Heir, and the unique art style for the anime adaptation also looks quite promising.
