In Umamusume: Pretty Derby, winning Career Mode is much easier with certain characters, but only if you know how to build them right!
Taiki Shuttle is one such character that can win you the Ura Finale consistently without losing a single race.
Being an easy winner in Career Mode also allows Taiki Shuttle to stack up Legacies with insane Sparks, which you can later use to support your other Umamusume in their own Career playthroughs.
Preparations – Taiki Shuttle

Taiki Shuttle is a short-distance runner, so most of your build revolves around increasing her Speed and letting her learn skills that can allow her to push past the crowd. What’s important is not wasting any resources.
Legacy
Legacies are the completed careers of your other Umamusume. Even if you don’t win the Ura Finals at the end, as long as you complete the Career, your Uma will leave behind her Legacy. Your other Umas can then use this Legacy before they begin their Career.
These Legacies trigger Inspiration up to three times during a character’s Career, providing skill hints and a major stat boost.

For Taiki Shuttle, you’d want to focus on Legacies that increase her Speed, Power, and Wit stats. Ideally, find a Legacy with a maxed-out Speed Spark, since that’s the stat you’ll want to train the most.
Additionally, any Umamusume’s Legacy that has a skill that provides a boost towards the end of the race is a good option for Taiki Shuttle. Mejiro McQueen’s The Duty of Dignity Calls works exceptionally well with Taiki Shuttle, but you can also use Oguri Cap or Gold Ship’s Legacies for their default skills.
Support Cards
Alongside two Legacies, you’ll also have to select up to five of your own Support Cards. For the sixth one, you’ll have to borrow it from other players.

Taiki Shuttle does fine even if you don’t have any SSR Support Cards. All she needs is a little boost for her Stats training. You can select up to three Speed and two Power Support Cards. For the sixth one, you can borrow the Special Week SSR or Kitasan Black SSR Support Card from any of the other players.
Skills
Taiki Shuttle doesn’t have much use for a huge arsenal of skills. You’ll only need a few that can allow her to get into a better position or give her a speed boost towards the last spurt.
Skill | Description |
Shooting For Victory! | This is Taiki Shuttle’s default skill, and it provides her with a decent speed boost after the final corner, only if Taiki is in a good position. |
Homestretch Haste | Provides Taiki Shuttle with a slight speed boost in the last spurt. |
Hydrate / Calm In The Crowd / Corner Recovery | All of these skills help Taiki recover some Endurance. You should only learn one of these skills because Taiki barely needs Endurance in her short races. |
Ramp Up | Slightly increases Taiki’s speed after passing another Umamusume in the middle of the race. |
Other than that, as the Career progresses and you have spare Skill Points, you should try to invest in certain performance skills depending on the races and your strategy, such as Firm Conditions and Pace Chaser Savvy.

Strategy
Taiki Shuttle runs best as a Pace Chaser, always pick that for her. Her tremendous Speed and Power allow her to push through any crowd towards the end of the race.
Stats
You should focus solely on Speed and Power for Taiki Shuttle’s stats. You can go for Wit training a few times to trigger an event. Don’t touch Stamina or Guts; you don’t want them, and Stamina already increases with Power training.

After you’ve completed all her goals, her stats should look like this:
Stats | Range |
Speed | 900+ |
Stamina | 300+ |
Power | 650+ |
Guts | 150+ |
Wit | 300+ |
Ura Finale Career – Taiki Shuttle
Taiki Shuttle has a total of eight Career Goals, and she has to win only the last three main races of her Career in first position. For her early-career races, you only have to place in the Top 5 to make it through the Goal events.

Junior Make Debut
Like other characters, Taiki gets 11 turns to prepare for her debut race. You have to start training her Speed and Power right away.
Shinzan Kinen
If you don’t win the Junior Debut race in first place, you’ll need to raic again before qualifying for Shinzan Kinen. The criteria to enter this race are that you must have 1000 fans, which is easily achievable if you win your debut race, and then you can focus on training.
NHK Mile C.
You get 7 turns before this race, which is plenty of time to further refine your strengths. You’ll get Inspiration before this race, giving your stats another boost.

Unicorn S.
After completing the NHK Mile race, you’ll get only 2 turns before Unicorn S. begins. Make sure you’ve learned at least one or two skills for her to be able to place in the Top 5.
Mile Ch.
After Unicorn S., Taiki goes to the beach, and all your training methods will be Level 5, perfect for further boosting Speed and Power. Keep in mind that after Mile Ch., you have to win all your remaining races in first position.
Yasuda Kinen
You get 12 turns before Yasuda Kinen begins. That’s plenty of time for optional races or more training. Make sure Taiki gets proper rest so her mood stays Great. Right before the race begins, you’ll strike your final Inspiration, making Taiki even stronger.

Sprinters S.
This will be your second-last main goal race. You’ll also be able to go to the beach with Taiki during those turns, giving your training an extra boost.
Mile Ch. Senior Year
Taiki will be participating in the Mile Ch. race again, but this time, her goal is to come in first place. You get 3 turns to prepare for the race. If you’ve been winning your recent races, this one shouldn’t be a problem either.

Ura Finale
After you’ve completed all of Taiki’s Goals, you’ll get three turns before the Ura Finale’s qualifier begins. Ura Finale can be challenging because the opponents here are tougher. You’ll still get a turn between races to boost her Speed stat, but don’t risk ruining her mood for a few extra points.

Winning Ura Finale races also grants extra stats afterward, keep that in mind while training. If her mood is Great, she’ll breeze past her competitors and win the Ura Finals with ease!
