Square Enix recently shared a really nice image highlighting its most iconic franchises, and the numbers speak for themselves! Out of all the games from the company, three franchises clearly stand out!
To no surprise, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts are clearly the top-selling games from Square Enix. A few players were surprised to see Kingdom Hearts up there given the lack of recent updates. However, it seems it is still one of the strongest series for Square Enix!
Square Enix Top Franchises
- Final Fantasy is of course holding the first place in the list with over 204 million units sold globally! This series is decades of beautiful and emotional stories, evolving graphics, and a gameplay many people still love today.
- Dragon Quest follows with 95 million, and shows another legacy from Square Enix, since it is still one of the most beloved RPG series.
- Kingdom Hearts surprisingly hold the 3rd spot, selling over 38 million units. This game mixes perfectly Disney World and Square Enix characters and creates magical stories with them.
The image also gives a hint at more recent games and even upcoming projects, reminding players that Square Enix has not planned to stop any time soon. With multiple platforms supported, from consoles to mobile, these franchises continue to reach players across the world.
What Comes Next?
With the Game Awards coming next week and the recent highlights, many players are hoping for a few exclusive games to be announced in some way during the 2025 Game Awards. These include:
- Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3
- Kingdom Hearts 4
- Final Fantasy XVII
It is unknown if Square Enix will announce anything during the Game Awards this year, but one thing is sure: they are definitely not done surprising people with a ton of new games in the upcoming years!
