Stardew Valley 1.7 Update May Delay Haunted Chocolatier’s Launch

Stardew Valley, one of indie gaming’s biggest success stories, is receiving a major new update. The news caught fans off guard, since creator ConcernedApe had previously said no major updates would come before the launch of his next project, Haunted Chocolatier.

Another Free Update!

Nine years after its debut, Stardew Valley is still a favorite among fans of cosy farming sims. One big reason for its lasting popularity is that every update has been free. ConcernedApe is keeping that tradition alive. The upcoming update will also be completely free!

So, what exactly is Stardew Valley? You inherit your grandfather’s rundown farm and trade the grind of city life for the quiet charm of the countryside.

With just a few basic tools and a bit of pocket change, you turn overgrown fields into a thriving farm. Combining farming, crafting, exploration, and even a bit of socializing, Stardew Valley has become one of the most addictive and beloved experiences out there.

The 1.6 update last year pushed Stardew Valley closer to a full-blown 2.0, with a ton of new content. It added fresh NPC dialogue, house renovations, and even pet turtles. With all that in mind, it’s no surprise that excitement for the next update is through the roof.

Will Haunted Chocolatier Be Postponed?

Fans are definitely thrilled about the surprise update. But some are worried it could slow down progress on ConcernedApe’s next game, Haunted Chocolatier. Announced back in October 2021, the project still doesn’t have a release date. And while Stardew Valley now has a whole team assisting Concerned Ape, Haunted Chocolatier remains a solo project.

ConcernedApe was quick to ease worries after the announcement. In a blog post, he admitted the Stardew Valley update might push back Haunted Chocolatier slightly. But only by “a little” at most. He explained that since he has a team helping with Stardew Valley, he is able to take on a more “creative director” role. Haunted Chocolatier, on the other hand, is still a completely solo effort. He also added that he doesn’t have “any plans to change that for the time being.”

For now, there’s no release date for Stardew Valley’s 1.7 update. ConcernedApe even hinted that Haunted Chocolatier could launch first, though he added, “no guarantees.” Both games are clearly passion projects, and it’s obvious he wants to deliver them as close to perfect as possible.
