Starfield’s Next Expansion – Is Earth Making a Comeback?

An otherworldly night sky, painted in hues of deep purple and magenta, looms over a stark, alien landscape. In the center, a monumental, futuristic structure pierces the sky, glowing with brilliant blue light that forms a partial dome around its base. A lone Starfield character figure in a spacesuit stands on a rocky outcrop in the foreground, looking toward the glowing edifice. A bright orange shooting star streaks across the upper-left of the frame, and a large, reddish moon hangs in the distance. The scene evokes a sense of exploration and wonder in a vast, unknown universe.

Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG Starfield just hit its two-year anniversary on Xbox Series X/S and PC. To celebrate the occasion, the studio shared a celebratory post on social media, but players quickly noticed what could be a hidden teaser for the next expansion.

You can take a look at the post here:

If you pause the little video at the right moment, you can spot a message forming the words “Terran Armada”.

This might be a possible title for the game’s next expansion. In Starfield’s lore, Earth has long been uninhabitable, so this could point to a story exploring humanity’s lost connection to its home planet.

As @BethesdaBeyond mentioned, Terran means Earth, and Armada Fleet, so it could hint at some sort of Earth-based Faction or mission to Earth.

What Has Been Confirmed

The first expansion, Shattered Space, was released back in September 2024, so another September release, or the upcoming month (October), would be great timing. In a recent video, Tim Lab, Starfield’s lead creative producer, also confirmed that a new DLC is already in development:

Bethesda also promised to continue releasing free updates with fan-requested features, better space travel gameplay, and new systems alongside smaller content drops.

Rumors Beyond Xbox and PC

Speculation is also still ongoing about Starfield expanding beyond its current platforms. Players are keeping an eye out for any word on a possible PlayStation 5 or even Nintendo Switch 2 release, though nothing official has been confirmed.

For now, all signs point to Bethesda preparing Starfield’s next big chapter, and “Terran Armada” might just be the first real clue.
