With over 5 million pre-registrations and just 2 days left until launch, Blue Protocol: Star Resonance is gearing up to take the MMO world by storm. This comprehensive beginner’s guide will help you dive in quickly, from picking your first class and mastering Battle Imagines to tackling dungeons and joining a guild. Get the tips and strategies you need to start strong and make the most of your early adventures.
Classes
At launch, BP: SR has eight unique classes, each with two specializations that really shape how you play. Some classes might be stronger in certain fights or with certain gear, but the community agrees: every class has at least one solid option for endgame.
Classes are split into Tanks, Healers, and DPS, but a few hybrids can pull double duty depending on your setup and strategy.
DPS Classes
- Wind Knight: Wind Knight / VanguardQ
- Frost Mage: Icicle / Frostbeam
- Stormblade: Iaido Slash / Moonstrike
- Marksman: Wildpack / Falconry
Tank Classes
- Shield Knight: Recovery / Shield
- Heavy Guardian: Earthfort / Block
Healer & Support Classes
- Beat Performer: Dissonance / Concerto
- Verdant Oracle: Lifebind / Smite
If you’re not sure where to start, BP: SR makes it easy to experiment. Once you unlock a class, you can swap between them freely. Your first unlock, Hero’s Radiance, comes early during a level 21 quest. After that, you can grab more classes from the in-game Colorful Store for 680 Bound Rose Orbs each. But honestly, it’s better to save those for other things.
Even though multi-classing is an option, it’s smart to focus on one class at first. Each one has its own weapons, preferred “Imagines,” and best stats. Plus, leveling a class uses limited resources like Bound Luno and Advancement Books, so spreading yourself too thin early on can get tricky.
Auto-Battle
Built with mobile play in mind, BP: SR comes with an auto-combat system that automatically uses your chosen skills as they cool down. It follows a simple decision-making logic that changes a bit depending on your class, making it perfect for a more hands-off approach during regular fights.

That said, auto-combat isn’t a “set it and forget it” mode. Key mechanics like dodging boss attacks, parrying, and positioning are still fully manual, you’ll need to stay alert to avoid getting wiped. Think of it more as an “auto-rotation” helper than a full autopilot.
Still, for daily quests or farming runs, auto-combat is a huge quality-of-life boost. It speeds up the grind without taking away the need for you to actually play.
Level Progression
BP: SR is built as a living, evolving world. New areas, quests, dungeons, and gear become available gradually as the server expands. Instead of dropping everything at once, major story content and features roll out over time. This means your experience can look pretty different depending on when you start.
If you’re worried about keeping up, don’t be. BP: SR has solid catch-up systems that let latecomers close the gap fast, so even if you join weeks or months after launch, you can still dive into current content.
The easiest way to kick off your journey is by focusing on the Main Story Questline until at least level 10. This sets the stage for unlocking key gameplay systems. Once you hit that milestone, you can start branching out: explore side quests, dungeons, and other progression path. But don’t forget to check back with the Main Story. It’s the fastest way to earn experience and also gives valuable one-time rewards that make early progression smoother.
It’s also worth noting that there’s a level cap tied to the number of days since launch. This means you won’t be able to grind to the top ranks on day one. Here’s a visual to show how the level cap works:

Ressources
All current content is designed to be playable without spending a dime, no matter what class you pick. Dedicated players can farm top-tier gear, complete full class sets, and unlock class-specific weapons just by playing. That said, spending money can give extra power boosts. These are real advantages, but nothing that can’t be overcome with effort.
The game’s premium currency, Rose Orbs, is used for most paid activities. You can spend them on Imagine Gacha pulls for rare enhancements, buy Unbound Luno for items, or grab progression materials and other boosts. The main perk of spending money is getting access to high-tier Imagines, especially Gold and Orange rarity, which can really boost a class’s power in some cases.
Even so, BP: SR is very generous to free players. Regular gameplay steadily hands out Bound Rose Orbs, and weekly or seasonal activities can give you 700–1,000 on average. Over time, almost all the premium advantages can be earned just by playing, which is why the game has a solid reputation as one of the more F2P-friendly titles in its genre.
Gearing
At launch, BP: SR has six dungeons, each with three difficulty tiers: Normal, Hard, and Master. The Master tier can even be scaled from Master 1 to Master 20. That said, not every dungeon or difficulty level is unlocked right away.
Beyond gear and dungeons, a big part of character growth comes from Talent Points, which give a solid boost to your power. While some points come naturally from leveling, most are earned through Talent Training Quests and Trials.
The game also offers four extra progression systems to fine-tune and boost your character. All of them, except Advancing, can be accessed at the Artisan Guild in Asterleeds:
- Perfection: Upgrade your gear with Reforge Stones to improve stats and unlock an extra re-rollable attribute.
- Refining: Unlocks at higher levels, letting you permanently enhance specific gear slots for lasting stat bonuses.
- Embedding: Insert jewels made via Gemcrafting into gear for extra stats. Unlike Refining, these jewels are tied to the gear and limited to one per piece.
- Advancing: A skill-enhancement system using Class Advancement Books and Bound Luno. Bound Luno is easy to get, but Advancement Books are scarce early on, so it’s smart to use them wisely.
Imagines
Among BP: SR’s progression systems, Battle Imagines are some of the most impactful. These equippable items offer powerful passive bonuses and unique active abilities that can rival the strongest cooldowns in other MMOs. You can equip two Battle Imagines at a time, giving plenty of room for customization and creative builds.

To craft a Battle Imagine, you need three main components: an Imagine Will, Rare Imagine Crafting Materials, and Common Imagine Crafting Materials.
Most of these resources are accessible to F2P players if you’re willing to put in the time, except for Gacha-exclusive Imagine Wills. Those can only be obtained through premium pulls or by combining a large number of Will Shards.
Every Imagine starts at Advancement Level 0, but you can boost them up to Level 5 using extra Wills and increasing amounts of Rare Materials. Each advancement strengthens both active and passive abilities, often lowering cooldowns or unlocking new effects at higher levels.
For most players, reaching Advancement 5 with Purple-rarity Imagines and Advancement 0 with Gold-rarity ones is achievable through steady play. The rarest and most powerful Imagines, however, highlight one of the clearest differences between spenders and F2P players.
Guilds
In BP: SR, guilds aren’t just social hangouts, they’re a key part of progression and rewards. Joining a guild gives you access to a variety of resources, buffs, and activities that refresh daily and weekly. The Guild Center, found in the in-game Guild menu, is the hub for all guild functions and events.

At the core of the system are Weekly Activity Rewards. Hitting the weekly activity cap earns every member Star Chests, 100 Bound Rose Orbs, Bound Luno, and Guild Tokens. This is a special currency you can spend in the Guild Shop on valuable items and materials.
Players can chip in daily by talking to Laura at the Guild Center front desk, which earns small amounts toward Weekly Rewards and extra Guild Tokens. Meanwhile, Douglas runs the Guild Cargo system, where submitting goods gives both personal rewards and guild progress. This is a great way to earn Luno outside of the Trade House.
From Friday to Sunday, Guild Hunts open for a few hours each day. These events pit players against powerful World Bosses in two difficulty settings: Normal (one boss) and Hard (two bosses at once, with boosted stats).
You can attempt Guild Hunts as many times as you like, but only two completions per day grant rewards. Clearing them earns both individual and guild-wide rewards, with milestones unlocking as members participate. Each milestone adds more Guild Tokens, so teamwork is key if you want to get the most out of your guild.
Quick Tips
With all that in mind, here are three tips for getting started in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance:
- Don’t stress about XP: Most experience comes from the Main Story, and there’s a soft level cap early on. Take your time and enjoy the game—you don’t need to rush.
- Gacha isn’t mandatory: The gacha system is mostly cosmetic, so there’s no pressure to pull. Even with the Imagine system being a key mechanic, you can grind and progress without spending a dime.
- Focus on 1–2 classes: While it’s possible to unlock every class on a single character, it’s not recommended. Leveling multiple classes requires a lot of resources. Stick with one main class you enjoy, and maybe a secondary class unlocked through the Main Story.
