Struggling for G1 Races? Here’s How to Farm More Fans in Umamusume

Special Week in Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

Fans are an important factor in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. If you’re playing the Career Mode, you’ll notice many Umamusume have goals that require them to have a certain number of fans. At times, you’ll need to gather fans in order to take part in popular G1 races, such as Tenno Sho and Arima Kinen.

Some characters don’t even have to worry about fans that much if they’re doing well in races. But if you’ve had a bad start or if you fail to place well in a race, your next race might require you to do something extra to gain more fans and become eligible to take part in it.

Race Categories In Umamusume: Pretty Derby

The only way to gain more fans in the game is to take part in races. These races can be your Goal Events or the optional ones. There are eight tiers for races in Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

Race CategoryDescription
DebutBefore the Debut Race, you cannot take part in any races, and the option for it will be locked. You can use that time to train your stats.
MaidenIf you fail to win in your Debut Race, you’ll have to take part in a Maiden Race before you can participate in any of the advanced races. Winning a Maiden Race typically grants around 500 fans.
Pre-OpThese are Pre-Open races that become available after winning a debut or maiden race. However, these races only grant around 1,000 fans.
OPThese are Open races, and they become available as soon as you’ve won your Debut or Maiden Race.
G3G3 is the lowest graded race. For all graded races, you’ll have to accumulate a certain number of fans. The number of fans required to take part in a G3 race is lower compared to G2 and G1 races.
G2G2 races are of a higher tier compared to G3 races, and the number of fans required is even higher compared to any of the lower tiers.
G1All of the major races in Umamusume are G1 races, such as Tenno Sho and Satsuki Sho. These races require an even higher number of fans for an Umamusume to participate, and the opponents here are very strong.
EXEX tier includes the Ura Finale races, which become available after you’ve achieved all of the goals of an Umamusume. These races don’t have any requirements, except for you to complete all of your character’s goals.

Winning higher-tier races grants more fans. G1 races can even allow you to gather up to 50,000 fans if you win first place with your Umamusume.

The number of fans gained after each race can also be increased by equipping certain Support Cards. Support Cards such as Fine Motion’s Wave of Gratitude provide a passive Fan Bonus. If you’re aiming to hit Legend level, equipping these Support Cards can make the job much easier.

How To Gain More Fans

You’ll need to take part in optional races and win to gain more followers. You can spot the base number of fans that can be gained before selecting a race. The number of fans shown is only an approximation. If you win a race, you can gain around twice as many fans as the number in the title.

The game lets you check if a race matches your Umamusume’s aptitude. The game will mark a race as recommended if both the ground type and the distance match the aptitude of your character. You’ll see the stars next to the distance and ground type in the Races menu. These stars show that a race fits your character’s aptitude.

You can also check upcoming races before the next Goal Event from the Races menu by pressing the right arrow button. It will show you if any upcoming races fit your Umamusume’s aptitude, so you can plan ahead.

How To Reach Legend Level

If you want to reach the Legend Level with your Umamusume, you’ll have to gather at least 320,000 fans before the completion of the Career. EX races also increase the number of fans that you can get before the Career ends.

One of the easier characters to gain 320,000 fans and reaching Legend level is Mejiro McQueen. Mejiro has many turns between races to train and enter optional races. However, after you’ve completed all her goals, she gets around 5 turns of downtime before the Ura Finale begins.

Once Ura Finale begins, you won’t be able to take part in any optional races. Before that, you can still enter up to two G1 races after completing all of Mejiro McQueen’s goals. Winning each of these races grants around 50,000 fans

For other characters, check if there’s a G1 race coming up during Goal Events. Entering those G1 races can help you gain enough fans before the Ura Finale starts.

If you gather 240,000 fans and reach the Top Star level before the Ura Finale begins, you’ll hit Legend level after winning the Ura Finals.
