Hytale is finally in early access, and one of the biggest early surprises is not just the game itself, but how fast the modding community has exploded. Within days of launch, hundreds of mods were already available, with over a million downloads across the top sites and 500+ mods added in under 48 hours.
You can find so many different ones, from quality-of-life changes, new gameplay features, creative builds, or even wild experiments!
There is already a ton to explore, so here are some of the best and most popular Hytale mods right now that you should definitely try!
Quality of Life Mods
These mods make the game smoother, more convenient, or just a different kind of fun. Here are the ones we find the most interesting to try, with the links so you can download them if you want:
- Advanced Item Info – Adds a detailed item stats menu so you do not have to guess at durability or properties when you are crafting and building.
- Item Magnets – Auto-collect items around you without manually picking them up. This is a huge boost during mining and even combat.
- Simply Trash – Adds a trash can that allows you to quickly destroy items.
- Better Modlist – Improves your mod menu with search and organize options so you actually know what is active or not.
- Pickaxes Place Torches – Automatically places torches with your pickaxe when you are mining. A small change that makes exploration much smoother.
- Gone Fishing – If you like fishing, this adds the feature in the game and lets you fish all day!
These changes will not overwhelm your playthrough, but they will save time and make the early game more chill because you will not have to always backtrack to pick stuff up, or struggle with the item menu.
Gameplay Enhancers
If you are already done with the early game, and you want things that change how Hytale feels or plays, the following mods are great picks:
- Lucky Mining – Mining becomes more interesting because you get more ores from mining, and the more you mine in a row, the more ores you get.
- Simple Claims – Adds land claiming so you can protect builds on multiplayer servers, especially useful with friends. Basically allows you to protect chunks from players that are not in your party.
- Miners Helmet – A craftable headlamp that lights your way and keeps your hands free.
- YUNG’s HyDungeons – Adds procedurally generated dungeon content for extra challenge and exploration beyond the basic game.
These mods make the survival and exploration portions of Hytale feel richer, less grindy, and more dynamic, so we highly recommend you try them out!
Creative & Decorative Mods
Perfect if you are more into the building and world-creation side of Hytale:
- Violet’s Furnishings – Adds new furniture and decorative elements to make bases and houses feel more lived-in.
- Macaw-style Furniture Packs – You can find different sets of furniture, doors, windows, and décor.
These do not affect gameplay balance or anything like that, but they let you put more personality into your worlds.
Wild & Experimental Content
Because Hytale’s tools are powerful, modders are already doing a ton of other incredible things. These were either tested before the game launched or are still unavailable, but they are interesting to look at. With a bit of luck, they might be available soon:
- Some modders have managed to get DOOM running inside Hytale. A chaotic but impressive thing to do, and it clearly adds some chaos.
- There is talk of entire game-style mods being possible, like survival, town building, or automation systems.
These are early days, but already show how far the community is willing to push the game!
Of course, there are a ton of other mods available, and you might want to try some more out. To find those, you can simply head over to Curseforge or MyTale where you can find a community hub with models, skins, and mod listings! These sites are a great starting point to see what is trending and what is new.
Hytale’s official modding tools already support multiple types of content, from server plugins to art assets and full worlds, so you do not need to be a programmer to enjoy mods. And if you are interested in making your own, it is also possible!
