As reported by a Reddit user, u/iHardlyTriHard, The First Descendant is running fake AI-generated ads that use faces of fake streamers promoting the game. Fans of the game have shown their dislike for Nexon, the publisher of The First Descendant, for not opting to pay real content creators and instead relying on AI for marketing.
The AI-generated ad was posted on The First Descendant’s official TikTok page, and the page’s watermark can also be seen on the video. However, you won’t be able to find the video on their TikTok page because of how ads function on the platform, and can only be seen while scrolling.
Regardless, u/iHardlyTriHard believes that the official TikTok page of The First Descendant is aware of the backlash against AI-generated content and is actively removing these posts once they start gaining negative comments, only to reupload them later.
The First Descendant Has Yet To Speak About The AI-Generated Ads
The First Descendant is developed and published by Nexon. It is a free-to-play third-person multiplayer shooter title that was released last year in June 2024. The game is still quite popular, averaging over 10,000 concurrent players every day on Steam, judging by the stats on SteamDB.
Note that The First Descendant also posted a notice on August 18, shortly after the Reddit user posted about the AI-generated ads.

The notice talked about the game’s TikTok Creative Challenge Review, where the company clarified that all submitted videos for advertisement are verified through TikTok’s system. However, some submitted videos were deemed inappropriate, and after a joint investigation with TikTok, TFD’s team will release an official notice soon.
While the notice doesn’t seem to mention anything about the AI-generated ads, several fans in the news discussion thread on Steam believe that it is likely related.
