The One Mistake Players Make When Leveling in WUCHANG

Leveling up your stats isn’t exactly straightforward in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, and if you’re just starting the game and struggling against enemies despite leveling up the traditional way, you might be doing something wrong!

How To Level Up

Similar to most soulslike titles, you have to collect Red Mercury by defeating enemies. Once you’ve collected enough, you can head to a shrine and level up your character by selecting the Impetus Repository option.

Here, you’ll have to convert your Red Mercury into Red Mercury Essence, which can then be used to unlock nodes on your skill tree.

How To Upgrade Your Stats

Leveling up stats works differently in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, and if you’re just going to the shrine and leveling up normally, it won’t increase your stats at all. You’ll need to find the stat nodes in the skill tree and unlock them with Red Mercury Essence to increase your stats.

Each stat has three different types of nodes in the skill tree:

  • Only increase a specific stat by +1
  • Also increases a specific stat by +1, but can be upgraded up to three times
  • Stat nodes that increase a particular stat by +5

Since increasing your stats is linked to the skill tree, you might have to unlock other branches to get to the stat that you want to increase.

Furthermore, keep in mind that you can reset any and all nodes in the skill tree at no cost whatsoever. Don’t shy away from experimenting with different weapons and stats because you can change them whenever you want.

What Does Each Stat Do?

Each stat in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers has its own purpose. Weapon branches in the skill tree lead to different kinds of stat nodes, and those are what you should aim to upgrade as you level up your character.

StatExplanation
VitalityVitality is directly responsible for increasing your total health. Increasing this stat will allow you to grow your HP bar.
EnduranceRaising Endurance increases your stamina bar. It does not directly increase the stamina recovery speed. If you’re running out of stamina after only a few attacks or dodges, you should consider investing in this stat.
StrengthStrength boosts the damage dealt by Greataxes, Longswords, and Spears.
AgilityAgility boosts the damage dealt by Dual Blades, Longswords, Spears, and One-Handed Swords.
MagicBoosts the damage of Magic-type spells and weapons.
FeatheringBoosts the damage of Feathering-type spells and weapons.

You can find spells and weapons that fall under either the Magic category or the Feathering category. You can check its type from the equipment menu. If you’ve equipped a Magic-type weapon or spell, its damage will depend on your current Magic stat, and vice versa.

Weapons like Longswords and Spears, benefit from both Strength and Agility, so you’ll to raise both stats to deal consistent damage.
