The Regent Joins Slay the Spire 2

During the chaos of the Game Awards, MegaCrit dropped some exciting news about the highly anticipated Slay the Spire 2. The big reveal? The game’s second brand-new character: The Regent. Players will be able to dive into his cosmic chaos when Slay the Spire 2 enters Early Access in March 2026.

Meet The Regent

Hailing from a distant planet, The Regent has traveled far and wide in search of excitement that his homeworld could never offer. Heir to the Throne of Stars, he’s a domineering and arrogant figure who wields the power of the cosmos and commands his faceless minions to do his bidding.

The Regent’s Unique Mechanics

One of The Regent’s standout features is his unique resource: Stars. Some of his cards generate Stars, others require Stars to play, and certain cards even scale based on the Stars you’ve accumulated. Unlike energy, Stars don’t reset each turn, and there’s no cap on how many you can store, giving players room for some truly astronomical combos.

Minions and the Sovereign Blade

The Regent can transform other cards into loyal Minions that fight and defend on his behalf. He also has the ability to Forge his signature weapon, the Sovereign Blade—a massive, gleaming sword that orbits him in battle.

The first time you play a card with the “Forge” keyword each combat, a corresponding Sovereign Blade card is created. Each subsequent Forge not only creates more copies but increases the blade’s damage, making it a core part of his strategy.

The Regent also interacts closely with colorless cards, both creating and using them in unique ways. The Sovereign Blade itself is colorless, unlocking a ton of potential Forge-based builds for creative players.

Early Access Launch

Fans can expect to jump into Slay the Spire 2 and explore The Regent’s cosmic powers in Early Access this March 2026, alongside the Necrobinder. Get ready to forge, summon, and stack Stars like never before!
