If you’re new to Umamusume: Pretty Derby, watch out! Some in-game tips can be more misleading than helpful. Career Mode isn’t beginner-friendly, and these tips often make it harder to understand how racing actually works.
These tips exist to help newer players out. But if you’re constantly unsuccessful despite doing everything the game says, it may not be your fault.
Why You Shouldn’t Trust In-Game Tips In Umamusume: Pretty Derby

After finishing each race, if you don’t come in first or second, Tazuna Hayakawa, the chairman’s secretary, will often give you tips to improve your performancee. These in-game tips may often ask you to train a specific stat or to learn more skills.
However, these tips are often wrong and random. If your character has 600 Power, Tazuna might still say you were lacking enough power to break out of the pack. Instead, you should focus on learning your character’s strengths and the stats that they need the most.

Career Mode is harsh, and even one mistake can easily cost you the run. But that can often be avoided if you don’t take what Tazuna says after a race too seriously and focus on the build that you want.
Sometimes, even if your stats and everything else are perfect, your Umamusume might still lose the race just because of luck or mood. In such cases, you can use Alarm Clocks to retry the race if it’s a main Goal Event race; otherwise, you can simply move on to other races.
Furthermore, during the training turns, Tazuna might give tips suggesting you raise whichever stat is lowest on your character. However, that’s not something you should do. Balancing all the stats is not how you successfully and consistently win in Career Mode.

After you’ve figured everything out with time, you’ll be able to disregard these in-game tips and become a better trainer for yourself and for your Umamusume.
