Marvel Rivals Players Are Asking for a Simple Fix to Team Picks!
A new feature suggestion is currently gaining traction in the Marvel Rivals Reddit community – and it is one that could actually solve one of the game’s most common frustrations.
The idea is to let players pick up to three preferred heroes that show up next to their name during character select. That way, teammates know what you want to play, and nobody accidentally bans your main.
The suggestion comes from Reddit user Terotrous, and most players agree: this would make things better for everyone, especially in ranked.
What It Would Do
- Show up to 3 heroes you want to play before the match starts
- Help avoid teammates banning your main by accident
- Improve team coordination, especially in draft mode
- Let flex players communicate their role intentions more clearly
- Already used in other games like MOBAs, and even in Marvel Rivals’ own faction system
A few players also pointed out that it would be optional, so you could show 1, 2, or 3 picks – or none at all if you prefer to stay anonymous.
Concerns from the Community
Of course, not everyone is fully sold on the idea. The biggest concern is that trolls could use the system to deliberately ban other players’ mains. There is also the possibility that it might put a bit of pressure on flex players, especially if teammates start expecting them to fill gaps every game. A few players brought up UI clutter too, saying it could feel overwhelming in short pre-game windows. And even if intentions are good, preferences might still be misread, leading to confusion or frustration. Regardless of all that, most players still think it would be a great improvement over the current system.
Other Player Suggestions to Make It Even Better
The Reddit thread also triggered a bunch of other smart adjustments and ideas:
- Limit it to 1 hero per role (Tank, Duelist, Support)
- Let players manually choose their top picks, not auto-filled by playtime
- Add a highlight for duplicate picks so teammates know not to ban them
- Integrate it into the player profile or faction lobby, not just the draft screen
- Include a ready button to avoid AFKs in pre-game
Could It Arrive in Season 3.5?
The timing of this request lines up with the upcoming Season 3.5 update for Marvel Rivals, which launches on August 8. The patch adds Blade as a new Duelist, revamps the ranked experience, and promises other quality-of-life upgrades.
On top of all that, NetEase is already making changes to improve team comp and balance, so there is hope that suggestions like this could actually get considered – if not this patch, then maybe soon after.
