Basim’s Story Lives On in Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Assassin’s Creed Mirage, released in October 2023, was the official return of the franchise to its stealth roots. Developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, the game focused on tight combat, elegant parkour, and assassination over the usual RPG systems. It followed Basim Ibn Ishaq’s journey in 9th-century Baghdad, during a time of political warfare, and built up a great story experience.
Initially planned as a DLC for Valhalla, Mirage became a standalone title instead and got many compliments for its design and classic AC feel. Since launch, it has received a few free updates providing some quality-of-life features.
Fans of Mirage, and of the series, should be very excited! This surprise content extends Basim’s story and breathes new life into a game that many enjoyed for its return to classic Assassin’s Creed gameplay. On top of that, the update being free shows Ubisoft is still committed to supporting Mirage, even as newer titles like Shadows roll out.
