Umamusume: Pretty Derby - Champions Meeting Libra Cup

Umamusume: Pretty Derby’s next Champions Meeting, the Libra Cup, is set to begin on December 8 in the Global Version. This time, the races will take place on a 3000m, right-handed track on the Kyoto racecourse, similar to the Kikuka Sho setting. The race will feature sunny weather, a fall day, and firm conditions.

Since the tournament will be held on a Long race, you’ll have to use a slightly different strategy to build your Umas so they come out successful.

Preparations For The Libra Cup

First of all, you’ll need to focus drastically on your Stamina stat while preparing any of your Umas for the Libra Cup. Ensure that the combined Stamina and Guts values are at least 1300. Additionally, you should have at least two gold recovery skills, such as Swinging Maestro and Gourmand.

StatsRecommended Values
Speed1100-1200
Stamina900-1000
Power500-600
Guts400-500
Wit500+

You can get these gold recovery skills from SSR Support Cards or by upgrading the potential of your Umas. Furthermore, you’ll also need acceleration skills to hold your own against the other Umas during the latter half of the race.

Rushing Gale, which can be obtained from Riko Kashimoto’s SSR Support Card, is also an excellent acceleration skill that can let you break through in the last spurt. If not Rushing Gale, you can also rely on the unique skills of certain Umas to work as an alternative, such as Seiun Sky’s Angling and Scheming, and Oguri Cap’s Triumphant Pulse. For that, you’ll have to use their Inspiration while building your Umas.

Racecourse

Since the Libra Cup is a long race and has two hills in the racecourse, one right after the gate and the other shortly before the final corner. You’ll have to keep that in mind before selecting your recovery and acceleration skills.

Additionally, most Front Runners will have a difficult time in this race due to the stamina consumption for the distance, as well as the length of the final straight, where other strategy users can easily catch up to them using their own acceleration skills.

The long straight towards the end of the race makes End Closers a generally advantageous strategy for this race. However, End Closers often have trouble breaking out of the pack during the ending stages of mid-race, which can negatively impact the outcome, especially in a race where Stamina conservation is important. If you want to play it safe, the best bet is to go with a Pace Chaser.

If you’re looking to try out your Umas, you can go to the practice runs or the room matches and try out the settings on the Kikuka Sho track to check if your characters are performing up to your expectations.

Aptitude

Make sure the Aptitude of your Umas for Long races is “S.” You can manage if your Uma has at least an A in Long. But in an ideal situation, your character should have an S in Aptitude, Turf, and your preferred strategy.

You can get an S in Aptitude and strategy by using Veteran Umamusume for Inspiration, which has at least two to three Star Sparks for the Aptitude that you need.

Best Uma For Libra Cup

While you can build any Uma to fit the requirements for the Libra Cup and excel at it, some Umamusume are generally easy to work with in Long distances due to their default Aptitude and skill kit.

Mejiro McQueen and Gold Ship are good options for the Libra Cup, as both of them have a 20% Growth Bonus on the Stamina stat, as well as one gold recovery skill in their Potential Skills. Mayano Top Gun and Super Creek are also excellent options for the Libra Cup due to similar strengths.

Furthermore, Manhattan Cafe’s banner is also coming on December 8, so if you manage to get her, she’ll also prove to be an undeniably strong asset for this Champions Meeting. Manhattan Cafe has an A Aptitude in Long and has some good skills for Long races that can help her hold her own against the others.
