Vampire Survivors Adds Online Co-Op This Fall in Major 1.14 Update

The creator of the survivor genre, Vampire Survivors, has just unveiled one of its most exciting and ambitious updates yet. After little to no announcements since April, the developers have just stated that Vampire Survivors will finally be getting Online co-op this fall!

Co-op Vampire Survivors

The co-op Vampire Survivors update will be coming to both PC and consoles this fall, but as of right now, we don’t have an exact date. However, the devs have released a fresh trailer teasing some new gameplay and upcoming features. Plus, with the promise, we will be hearing more details next week!

Patch 1.14

The co-op Vampire Survivors update seems to pack more content than we might initially be ready for. The trailer showcases five total cards, with only this announcement showcasing the co-op feature. This likely means that in the coming weeks, more and more will be unveiled. But what else could we expect?

It is a possibility that we will be getting more original characters or even collaborations. Vampire Survivors hasn’t shied away from their on-brand or weird collabs, including their Castlevania and Among Us DLCs. Either way, getting additional maps, items, or characters will always be a delight, especially since the base game and all of its DLCs are very cheap for the amount of extra stuff they all bring.

What is Vampire Survivors?

In the rare case you don’t know what Vampire Survivors is, most fans consider this single game to be responsible for birthing an entirely new game genre. The gameplay of Vampire Survivors is a top-down bullet hell Roguelike where you slowly amass XP and acquire random items to form a build varying on your chosen character. The goal is to last as long as you possibly can while cutting down thousands of enemies that slowly come through ever-increasing waves.

Every run starts out the same, but in true Roguelike fashion, your results do depend not only on your skill but also mainly on your luck. The aspect that your next run can be the “god run” is what keeps players coming back for more. Plus, the game requires a lesser amount of focus to play in comparison to the average game, making it not quite an auto battler, but enough that you can get in a few rounds during small moments of downtime, or while you’re doing other tasks.

Many people associate the term “survivor” with the genre, similar to how players often describe games as “souls-like.” Some successful titles that have emerged from this new genre include Soulstone Survivors and Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.
