One of the best activities in Where Winds Meet are the boss fights. They’re fast-paced, skill-based, and require some patience to understand how to take down each specific foe.
Although each boss in Where Winds Meet has unique attack patterns, HP, and environments, there are still a handful of tips and tricks that can help you take down any of them!
The video below highlights some specific items you can start doing today to make your next boss fight a bit easier. For a deeper dive into each piece, continue reading.
Tip #1: Companion Assist
Before entering most boss fights, you’ll have the option to spend some coins in order to get a companion to join the fight with you. Each companion assist provides unique buffs, ranging from damage buffs, revives, burst damage, and more.
Each companion assist has a unique way of getting unlocked, and you can learn more about how to unlock each directly through the companion assist menu (pictured below).

Tip #2: Block When You Parry
As most players are already aware, one of the most effective strategies in boss fights is to parry. In other words, you deflect an attack right before it lands on you in order to dish off some damage and minimize the enemy’s stamina bar (blue bar below their health).
When that blue bar gets emptied, hitting the boss will deal a much larger amount of damage, making it the perfect opportunity to burst damage.
However, pulling off a successful parry can be difficult at times (especially on Legends mode). In order to maximize your success in boss fights, it’s highly recommended to block as you parry. If you block and miss the parry, the amount of damage you take will be greatly reduced, allowing you to survive the fight a bit longer to take down each boss!
Tip #3: Use Your Oddities
As you explore the world in Where Winds Meet, you will be collecting different oddities (such as bee hives, beetles, mantis, and more). These can be exchanged at a specific NPC named Qi Sheng, who is located at the point indicated in the map below.

When speaking with Qi Sheng, you can exchange these oddities in order to unlock a range of useful buffs that will make your boss fights even easier. This ranges from additional health, physical attack, defense, endurance, and more!
Be sure to revisit this NPC often in order to continuously max out your character.
Tip #4: Enhancing Gear
Within the “Develop” menu, you can select “Gear” and then have the option to “Enhance” each gear slot to permanently boost stats across the board. As your character’s level progresses, so does the max level that you can enhance each gear slot to.
In order to enhance gear slots, it will cost a small amount of coins and then a few materials that you can gather in the open-world or purchase from certain vendors.
It’s important to make sure you enhance gear as often as possible to continuously boost your damage output, health, defense, and other critically important perks for boss fights.
Tip #5: Boss Talents
Within the “Talents” menu, there are a handful of unique passive buffs you can pick-up after completing certain missions for each boss. For example, if you defeat the “Lucky Seventeen” boss and catch a tossed player within the match, you’ll gain a damage boost towards that specific boss when they are in the Exhausted state.
This is important to be aware of, as these passive buffs quickly build up and will allow you to take down bosses easier and easier over time.

Tip #6: Consider Co-Op Mode
If you are spending several hours on a specific boss and are getting frustrated, you may want to consider going into co-op mode and invite others to help you take down certain bosses. You can do this by selecting the “Co-op Mode”, and then “Invite Visitors”.
You can have up to five players in a group, and it’s highly recommended to have at least one Tank, and at least one Healer within the group to streamline the fight as much as possible!
