Where Winds Meet Guide: How to Build and Manage Your Home Base

Where Winds Meet is finally releasing globally on November 14, and it turns out the game has a home base building system that gives you the freedom to create, manage, and customize like never before.Β

From placing foundations to running full production lines with NPCs, here is everything you need to know to get ready for launch and build your dream house!

Building in the Open World

First, you need to know that there will be two ways of building: individual building and home base building. After Where Winds Meet launched globally, you will only see the individual building, and the home base might come only later on. However, they are both accessible through the construction mode and function similarly. Just keep in mind that home base building will offer more options.

Getting started with building is easy! You can just press F4 to open the construction menu. There, you will see options for individual building (available now) and home base building (coming after release).

  • Press B to access materials.
  • Click to place foundations, furniture, or structures.
  • Some items are locked initially, but you can buy their blueprints with in-game currency and gather the necessary resources from the overworld (chop trees, mine rocks, etc.).

You can also:

  • Save your own blueprints.
  • Use community blueprints to instantly recreate popular builds.
  • Toggle between free view (place anything anywhere) and lock view.

Home Base: Build Your Empire

The home base system allows players to manage a personal plot of land and create a business empire. You will get an empty plot to start your base.

In there, you can build the following things:

  1. Facilities:
    • Ink: Your main source of income (requires chefs and waiters).
    • Pottery Workshop: Produce bowls, cups, and other goods.
    • Wine-making Facility: Manage production lines efficiently.
    • Homes: Beds for NPCs so they can rest and work.
    • Farm Plots: Grow ingredients for your production.
  2. NPC Management:
    • Recruit NPCs from the overworld.
    • Assign roles (e.g., chef, miner, farmer).
    • Level up NPC skills via mini-games and tasks.
  3. Automation and Efficiency:
    • Use auto-plots to let NPCs farm over time.
    • Fill facilities with workers and materials, then watch production run automatically.
    • Glory points are earned from building. The more glory points you have, the faster your home base levels.
  4. Blueprints and Customization:
    • Save and reuse your own blueprints.
    • Fill gaps with materials with one click.
    • Remove structures easily when redesigning.

Mini-Games and Extra Features

  • Daily Life of a Young Master: Complete quests to level NPC skills and recruit legendary workers.
  • Mahjong and Other Challenges: Optional mini-games that provide materials and rewards.
  • Friends & Guilds: Invite friends to help manage your home base if you meet certain ranks.

A Few Extra Tips for Beginners

  • It is best to start small and focus on one facility at a time (Ink or Pottery).
  • Focus on gathering materials in the overworld first.
  • Make sure to use blueprints to save time and avoid building mistakes.
  • Try to automate farming when possible; it frees you up for other tasks.
  • Remember to recruit NPCs strategically to maximize production.

The building system in Where Winds Meet is surprisingly flexible. You can create almost anything you want – from a small home to a full working empire with its own economy. You can even team up with friends and build together. There is a lot to explore, so once you can, make sure to claim your spot and start building!
