Forget pity counters, forget off-banner pulls, and forget saving your gems for months. ANANTA just revealed it has no character gacha at all, and players are losing their minds.
Famitsu just dropped a full feature on Mugendai ANANTA (無限大ANANTA), giving us the kind of details we have been speculating about for months. The article covers everything from playable characters to gameplay mechanics, and even includes exclusive developer interviews and in-character chats with the cast. Basically, it confirms a lot of what the community has been hoping for, and it looks incredible.

Instead of locking characters behind RNG, you can unlock every playable character simply by playing the game. No rolls. No snipe pulls. No heartbreak. Monetization is focused on cosmetics! This means clothes, mounts, housing, and lifestyle items, letting players customize and enjoy their characters without gating actual gameplay behind luck.
What Is ANANTA?

ANANTA is a new upcoming open-world RPG mixing big-city exploration, anime vibes, and total freedom. If you are picturing something between GTA, Spider-Man, Watch Dogs, Cyberpunk, and even a sprinkle of Yakuza… you are not far off.
A new trailer also dropped recently, you can learn more about that here!
Here is a taste of what is in the game:
- Open-world exploration with cars, bikes, boats, and skydiving.
- Combat that mixes melee weapons (bats, flamethrowers) with a GTA-style gun wheel.
- Character-switching straight out of GTA V, letting you jump between team members instantly.
- Hacking mechanics like Watch Dogs, using cameras, drones, and tech tricks.
- Web-swinging and wingsuits for insane mobility.
- Batman Arkham-style brawling for close combat.
Every trailer and reveal keeps proving this is not a typical anime RPG! It is a full-blown mashup of all the open-world systems you could dream of.
No Character Gacha. At All.

The Famitsu feature confirmed it: ANANTA does not have character gacha.
Every character will be earnable just by progressing and playing. That means no more grinding banners or praying for pity. At least not for characters. And no chance of pulling the wrong unit (no “snipe pulls” here).
Instead, the gacha-like monetization will be around customization:
- Outfits and fashion items
- Mounts and vehicles
- Housing and DIY personalization
The idea is simple. First, bond with your characters, then, have fun making them your own. It is the kind of system players have been dreaming about for years.
A good example is Infinity Nikki, that lets you pull for dresses instead of characters, and it is working out pretty good!
Meet the Characters

From trailers, the official website, and Famitsu, here are some of the playable faces we know about:
- Chenxiu – The main protagonist, a harried captain of the ACD task force who is more about surviving chaos than following rules.
- Taffy – A quirky companion with a big personality.
- Richie – A pink-haired girl full of style and attitude.
- Seymour – A hacker with a drone and unique tech abilities.
More characters are teased, with both male and female protagonists available, each offering unique skills and playstyles. And again, the good part is that you will get to play them all for free!
The City of Nova

The game takes place in Nova City, a metropolis where gangs, corporations, and everyday citizens collide. You will work as captain of a special task force, but your role changes depending on the character you control.
Organizations like NCAA, DK9, and Cat Express will give you missions. And yes, you will need to keep up your reputation not just through your actions, but even through social media inside the game.
You can expect also a ton of optional distractions too:
- Mini-games like basketball and skating
- Combat arenas
- Driving challenges
- Exploration events
- Shows, shops, gyms, and more

Exploration & Traversal
One of ANANTA’s biggest selling points is just how free the world feels. Nova City is not a static backdrop, it is full of things to explore, climb, and interact with, and the game gives you a ton of tools to move around in style.
- Swing, glide, and zipline between buildings like Spider-Man, making vertical exploration just as fun as walking in the streets.
- Drive a variety of vehicles, from cars and bikes to boats, letting you tackle land or water however you want.
- Skydive or wingsuit over the city for a bird’s-eye view, or just for pure adrenaline.
- Engage in environmental traversal challenges, like parkour-inspired sequences or special rooftop missions.

This is not just cosmetic movement either, how you move impacts gameplay, mission strategies, and even combat. ANANTA’s world is designed to reward creativity and freedom. You are truly part of the city!
Combat
ANANTA’s combat system is as wild and versatile as its open world. Forget the usual gacha game turn-based or auto-battle mechanics. This is full-on action RPG combat, mixing melee, ranged, and environmental tools.

Here is what you can do in fights:
- Melee combat with bats, hockey sticks, and other improvised weapons.
- Firearms and explosives, including guns, flamethrowers, and RPGs, all accessed through a GTA-style weapon wheel.
- Character switching on the fly, letting you combo team members’ abilities and mix up playstyles mid-battle.
- Hacking enemies and the environment, like disabling security cameras or triggering drones, à la Watch Dogs.
- Grappling, swinging, and wingsuit attacks, using the city itself as part of your combat playground.
Boss fights, street skirmishes, and gang encounters are all designed to be chaotic, with verticality, environmental hazards, and a huge variety of enemy types keeping things exciting.
Basically, combat in ANANTA is about freedom and creativity. You can plan an elaborate takedown, go all guns blazing, or swing into the fight from above. It is a system that rewards skill, strategy, and just having fun with the world around you.
What Is Next?

For now, there is no official release date. However, the release window is speculated to be around Summer or Fall 2026. Keep in mind that nothing has been confirmed yet, so this is only a guess.
That said, a playable demo will be available at Tokyo Game Show 2025!
ANANTA is definitely going to be the gacha game that is not a gacha. Instead of going for rolls, players can enjoy a wild open-world mix of anime, action, and chaos, with monetization tied only to cosmetics. If ANANTA really delivers on its promise, it could change the way we think about gacha games forever.
