In case you missed it: SEGA has recently confirmed that Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 13. Kiwami was already on the original Switch, but this is the first time Kiwami 2 will be playable on Nintendo hardware, together with a new port of the first game for Switch 2.
The new versions will have better graphics, smoother frame rates, and more language options to make the experience feel more polished.
Gameplay Showcase
SEGA held a 40-minute livestream where Community Manager Carlos and Sr. Product Marketing Manager Brent played through both titles. The stream gave everyone a look at popular minigames, cosplay, and even some great fan art. You can watch the full gameplay here:
How the Ports Perform
Kiwami 2 looked noticeably smoother during the stream, especially around the 25-minute mark, but there are some concerns that Kiwami 1’s frame rate might not hold up as well. That could also just be a capture issue from the broadcast, so players are waiting to see final performance.
Naturally, fans are hoping both ports will land closer to the quality seen in Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut on Switch 2, which has received many compliments for its stability.
Cartridge or Digital?
One small debate that came up after the showcase was about the release format. Most fans expect cartridges, but a few players think SEGA might go with a smaller, card-style option closer to digital-only. Collectors are naturally hoping for physical copies; however, plenty of players just want the games regardless of format.
No matter how they ship, excitement is (once again) high for both Kiwami and Kiwami 2 on Switch 2.
