At The Game Awards, a new action RPG dropped that has got everyone excited! We are talking about Gang of Dragon. If you are a fan of the Yakuza series, this is definitely going to interest you.
The game is created by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the genius behind the Yakuza franchise. Gang of Dragon brings all the intense crime drama we love, but with some exciting new features. Set in Kabukicho, Tokyo’s famous nightlife district, this game promises fistfights, car chases, and a world with danger at every corner.

The Setting and Story
If you are feeling déjà vu, you are not wrong. As mentioned, Gang of Dragon takes place in Kabukicho. This is the real-life district that inspired Kamurocho, the iconic setting of the Yakuza games. This is the kind of place where crime runs freely and anything can go down at any moment.
You will play as Shin Ji-seong, an important member of a Korean crime syndicate. The character is played by Ma Dong-seok, who you might know from Marvel’s Eternals or Train to Busan. His presence is intimidating and imposing. We can expect Shin to be a memorable character, mixing brains, muscle, and pure violence as he leads Tokyo’s criminal underworld.
Combat and Gameplay
Gameplay-wise, Gang of Dragon feels familiar but with a new edge. If you are a fan of Nagoshi’s work, you will recognize his signature hand-to-hand combat, but this time, things get even more intense with blade attacks, guns, and car chases.
Yes, you read that right, you will be tearing through Kabukicho in high-speed car races, all while customizing your ride for maximum chaos.
The real kicker here is that car customization is a big part of the gameplay. So, if you have always wanted to change your car and then use it to escape rival gangs, you are in luck.
The Development Team
The studio behind Gang of Dragon is Nagoshi Studio, founded by Nagoshi himself in 2021. The team is full of former RGG Studio staff, including ex-producers, art directors, and the studio head. This is a solid guarantee that Gang of Dragon will have the same high standards of storytelling and gameplay that made Yakuza such a good game.
When Does It Release?
Gang of Dragon is still “deep in development,” so it might be a while before we can get our hands on it. But from what we have seen so far, it is going to be another must-play.
