EA has suddenly announced the closing of Anthem’s servers. Despite being widely regarded as a failure since its initial launch in 2019, the game’s servers have remained operational. However, a recent, somewhat unexpected announcement revealed that Anthem’s servers will be going offline soon.
The latest post from the BioWare developers says:
“Hi everyone,
We have an important update to share regarding Anthem. After careful consideration, we will be sunsetting Anthem on January 12, 2026. This means that the game will still be playable online for the next 180+ days. As of today, you can no longer purchase in-game premium currency, but you can still use your remaining balance until the servers go offline.
We deeply appreciate your dedication, passion, and support over the years, and we’d like to thank you for that.
The BioWare Team”
A Final Countdown for Anthem
Game servers will be available until January 12, 2026. Before that, anyone who owns Anthem can still play and use any in-game currency to purchase any items before the game is eventually sunsets.
However, a small thing to note is that Anthem’s server closure apparently has nothing to do with the recent cuts and layoffs at Microsoft. If you’re one of the few who still wish to replay or try Anthem before it eventually goes offline forever in 2026, you can read their FAQ in their latest post here.
