General Information

On this page, you will learn what the best corruptions and the best corrupted items are for a Restoration Druid in World of Warcraft — Battle for Azeroth (BfA) 8.3. We also tell you how to handle corruption effects.

1.

Corruption

Corruption is a new Patch 8.3 feature (see our guide on Corrupted Items). It replaces Warforging and Titanforging for all gear in the patch. It gives items a type of affix, as well as an amount of Corruption. Corruption is a stat that negatively impacts your character the more of it that you have, but the more Corruption you have, the more powerful the affixes will be. Some Affixes are a lot more powerful than others, and you can see a guideline ranking for them below.

2.

What Corruption Powers to buy on a Restoration Druid

Echoes of Ny'alotha can now be used to buy specific corruption powers from MOTHER, in the Chamber of the Heart in Silithus.

This allows you to optimize the corruptions on your gear without any RNG involved, as long as you have enough Echoes to buy the corruptions you need.

You can learn all about this new system in our specialized guide for Echoes of Ny'alotha below.

For Restoration Druid in raids we recommend you to stack Expedient Icon Expedient of any rank as much as your corruption budget allow. Try putting them on items with Haste already present.

For Mythic+, Gushing Wound Icon Gushing Wound remains the best damage corruption as long as the item you put it on is 475 or 485 item level. For healing, you can consider running Masterful Icon Masterful or Expedient Icon Expedient. Masterful will provide more healing and Expedient more damage.

Best Corruptions for Restoration Druid

There are rough rankings of each corruption effect listed below. Keep in mind that some corruptions only deal damage. It does not mean that they are useless for a healer, quite the contrary. Some of them deal so much damage (Gushing Wound as a prime example), it becomes very hard to ignore them. In the long term, you should have multiple sets of corrupted gear, with some a bit more damage oriented and some purely healing oriented or very light on damage corruptions.

As usual, you should use QELive to get a more accurate idea of where each of these Corruptions stands and how you can combine them on your gear to get the best effect.

Corruption Rankings for Raiding

  1. S TierRacing Pulse Icon Racing Pulse, Expedient Icon Expedient, Severe Icon Severe.
  2. A TierSurging Vitality Icon Surging Vitality, Siphoner Icon Siphoner, Masterful Icon Masterful, Honed Mind Icon Honed Mind, Void Ritual Icon Void Ritual.
  3. B TierGushing Wound Icon Gushing Wound, Infinite Stars Icon Infinite Stars, Strikethrough Icon Strikethrough, Versatile Icon Versatile, Deadly Momentum Icon Deadly Momentum, Ineffable Truth Icon Ineffable Truth.
  4. C TierTwilight Devastation Icon Twilight Devastation, Twisted Appendage Icon Twisted Appendage.
  5. Corruptions you should cleanseGlimpse of Clarity Icon Glimpse of Clarity and Echoing Void Icon Echoing Void.

Keep in mind that Gushing Wound, Twilight Devastation, and Twisted Appendage only proc from direct damage effects. If you are not actively doing damage, they will almost never proc, significantly reducing their usefulness. As a Restoration Druid in raids, you are often going for very long periods of time without casting a single damage spell. Therefore either consider using Infinite Stars, if you need damage, or abandon trying to use damage corruptions altogether.

3.2.

Corruption Rankings for Mythic+

  1. S TierGushing Wound Icon Gushing Wound, Racing Pulse Icon Racing Pulse, Expedient Icon Expedient, Masterful Icon Masterful, Twilight Devastation Icon Twilight Devastation.
  2. A TierVoid Ritual Icon Void Ritual, Honed Mind Icon Honed Mind, Twisted Appendage Icon Twisted Appendage.
  3. B TierVersatile Icon Versatile, Deadly Momentum Icon Deadly Momentum, Severe Icon Severe.
  4. C TierSurging Vitality Icon Surging Vitality, Strikethrough Icon Strikethrough, Infinite Stars Icon Infinite Stars, Siphoner Icon Siphoner.
  5. Corruptions you should cleanseGlimpse of Clarity Icon Glimpse of Clarity and Echoing Void Icon Echoing Void.

As with raiding, Gushing Wound, Twilight Devastation, and Twisted Appendage only proc from direct damage effects. If you are not casting damage abilities often, then consider using stat corruptions. All of the damage procs have increased proc rate based on your Haste (except for Twisted Appendage), so you can run a combination of Expedient or Racing Pulse corruptions together with Twilight Devastation or Gushing Wound for maximum damage. Consider using some Masterful for dungeons and affixes that require more healing.

4.

How Much Corruption Should I Run as a Restoration Druid

Generally speaking, anything below 40 is considered safe and can be used in all situations. If the content you are doing is easy, and you are confident that you will not die from occasional Thing from Beyond hits or be able to control it with Mass Entanglement Icon Mass Entanglement, then you can run up to 59. It is generally not advised to run over 39 if the only corruption you are adding are healing corruptions, since taking more damage with the risk of dying to do more healing is not a good idea.
