Azerite Traits and Essences, introduced in Battle for Azeroth, need to be chosen correctly, to ensure optimal performance. On this page, we explain how to pick your major and minor essences and which traits are best.

This page is part of our Restoration Druid PvP Guide.

Azerite Essences for Restoration Druids

Essences allow players to customize their characters while adding a new ability to use. This section will cover the best overall Azerite Essences for Restoration Druids in PvP.

For a general guide to all the essences, as well as how to obtain them and increase their ranks, check out our Essence guide.

Before reading this page, you should have a good understanding of the PvP playstyle of a Mistweaver Monk. So we advise you to read our dedicated page on the subject.

1.1.

Major Essences

Conflict and Strife Icon Conflict and Strife gives you the spell Overgrowth Icon Overgrowth as a baseline ability. The minor also gives you Strife Icon Strife. Not only do your spells have a chance to give you Versatility, but any loss of control to your character does too. This means that, if teams stun you and try to swap to you, you have additional Versatility and take less damage.

Memory of Lucid Dreams Icon Memory of Lucid Dreams increases your Mana generation by 100% for 12 seconds. This is a powerful trait versus teams that do well in high-dampening. Restoration Druids' weakness is that they can run out of Mana quickly versus teams with strong, consistent damage.

1.2.

Minor Essences

In addition to having a Major Essence, you can choose two Minor Essences to place in your neck at Heart of Azeroth Levels 55 and 65.

Seed of Eonar Icon Seed of Eonar will put a HoT on one of your teammates that takes damage. It will heal when they take damage again. This is a great passive heal to increase your overall output.

Strife Icon Strife, from Conflict and Strife, grants a very powerful Versatility Minor Power. Not only do your spells have a chance to give you Versatility, but any loss of control to your character does too. This means that, if teams stun you and try to swap to you, you have additional Versatility and take less damage.

Memory of Lucid Dreams Icon Memory of Lucid Dreams gives your spells and abilities a chance to refund 50% of the Mana spent on them and heal you. This is great for staying at a healthy Mana level throughout a long match.

The Crucible of Flame Icon The Crucible of Flame gives the minor ability Ancient Flame Icon Ancient Flame. This gives your spells and abilities a chance to put a dot on an enemy that took damage. This will be an overall increase to your sustained damage.

Azerite Traits for Restoration Druids

Azerite traits are unlocked in you helm, shoulders and chest. With each Azerite level in your neck, you get closer to unlocking the center trait in your gear. These traits vary from increasing damage or healing of certain abilities to helping increase your survivability. Depending on what traits you use, it can completely alter your playstyle and what talents you should be using.

2.1.

Outer Rings

Below are the best Outer Ring traits.

  1. Grove Tending Icon Grove Tending
  2. Waking Dream Icon Waking Dream
  3. Rampant Growth Icon Rampant Growth

The most important trait you are going to want to get in all pieces of your gear is Grove Tending Icon Grove Tending. This increases your on demand burst healing. It also helps you save Mana because you will have to use less spells to keep your teammate alive. You also have the option of getting 2 Grove Tending traits and one Waking Dream Icon Waking Dream. With this trait, you will be passively healing your team.

2.2.

Middle Ring

Below are the best Middle Ring traits.

  1. Blessed Portents Icon Blessed Portents
  2. Azerite Veins Icon Azerite Veins
  3. Earthlink Icon Earthlink
  4. Concentrated Mending Icon Concentrated Mending

The Middle and Inner rings are important for additional defensives. However, because you already have multiple defensive spells in the form of Bear Form Icon Bear Form and Barkskin Icon Barkskin, you want to get traits that will boost your overall healing output. Blessed Portents Icon Blessed Portents, Earthlink Icon Earthlink, and Concentrated Mending Icon Concentrated Mending all help do this. Azerite Veins Icon Azerite Veins is a defensive trait and works great versus teams that might swap to you.

2.3.

Inner Ring

Below are the best Inner Ring traits.

  1. Gemhide Icon Gemhide
  2. Resounding Protection Icon Resounding Protection
  3. Ursoc's Endurance Icon Ursoc's Endurance

All of these traits give you additional ways of surviving. These are all passive, but are crucial to have.
