Introduction for Shadow Priest Boss Advice

This page is not updated for the pre-patch and will not be updated before BfA is released.

In this section you will find information pertaining to each boss individually. It is recommended you follow the standard talent build found in the Builds, Talents, and Glyphs section of the guide unless otherwise advised on a per boss basis. Much of the information is geared towards Mythic encounters, though it can be applied equally to the lesser difficulties.

Unstable Arcanocrystal Icon Unstable Arcanocrystal, Norgannon's Prowess Icon Norgannon's Prowess, or Prototype Personnel Decimator Icon Prototype Personnel Decimator (in that order of priority) should be substituted for Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision if you have not obtained it yet.

1. Shadow Priest Boss Advice: Antorus, the Burning Throne

1.1. Garothi Worldbreaker

Mania Icon Mania is the recommended choice over Body and Soul Icon Body and Soul, as there is no extremely time-sensitive movement on this encounter. Kill times are very influential over DPS on this encounter, as the intermissions will likely cause you to drop Voidform Icon Voidform. If the kills are too fast, you will never reach high Voidform stacks, however, slower kills will interrupt your second Voidform in the active phase. Ideal kill times occur when your Voidform will be naturally dropping as the boss transitions to his Apocalypse Protocol Icon Apocalypse Protocol.

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Mangaza's Madness Icon Mangaza's Madness & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.

Talent Choice:

1.2. Felhounds of Sargeras

Maintain full DoTs on both targets throughout the fight. Surrender to Madness Icon Surrender to Madness can be an exceptional choice here, if you are comfortable playing it, but only if your kill time is about 3:30 or shorter. Mania Icon Mania is also typically the superior choice due to the amount of time spent in Voidform Icon Voidform, and even better with Surrender to Madness.

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Mangaza's Madness Icon Mangaza's Madness & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.

Talent Choice:

1.3. Antoran High Command

Be sure to apply your DoTs to all targets that spawn. The adds are great fodder, and the Fanatical Pyromancer can be used to fish for a Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret proc using your Silence Icon Silence. Ensure you have your Dispersion Icon Dispersion ready while Chief Engineer Ishkar is up in case you get a Shock Grenade Icon Shock Grenade while Fusillade Icon Fusillade is incoming, as you will need to step out of the group and shield.

Trinket Choice: Prototype Personnel Decimator Icon Prototype Personnel Decimator & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Mangaza's Madness Icon Mangaza's Madness & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.

Talent Choice:

1.4. Eonar the Life-Binder

Shadow is not hugely effective on this encounter, however if you want to optimize your overall damage there are a few tricks. Equip any AoE trinkets you have, such as Spectral Thurible Icon Spectral Thurible. Swap out Mindbender Icon Mindbender for Misery Icon Misery as well, as you will not be able to maintain Voidform Icon Voidform for long on this encounter. You can also equip the Heart of the Void Icon Heart of the Void to boost your burst a bit. Focus on the bats whenever they spawn, as they will allow you to maintain the longest Voidform Icon Voidform and get the most out of your kit.

Trinket Choice: Prototype Personnel Decimator Icon Prototype Personnel Decimator & Terminus Signaling Beacon Icon Terminus Signaling Beacon.

Legendary Choice: Heart of the Void Icon Heart of the Void & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.

Talent Choice:

1.5. Portal Keeper Hasabel

Shadow Priests should be kept on the main platform for this encounter. Focus mainly on the boss, using each Transport Portal Icon Transport Portal to proc your Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret using either Mind Bomb Icon Mind Bomb or Silence Icon Silence. Your Twist of Fate Icon Twist of Fate should activate automatically due to your Mind Sear Icon Mind Sear passive, but if the boss is moved for any reason you should be sure to manually trigger it on the adds.

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Mangaza's Madness Icon Mangaza's Madness & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.

Talent Choice:

1.6. Imonar the Soulhunter

This fight is mainly about survival, particularly on Mythic, as the intermissions can be very painful and we have access to limited defensive tools. Mania Icon Mania is not recommended on this encounter, as you will always be knocked out of Voidform Icon Voidform for each intermission, and this is where the movement speed is most valuable. Be ready to stabilize yourself with a quick Shadow Mend Icon Shadow Mend if necessary, as there is nothing to damage during the intermission anyway. Use your Dispersion Icon Dispersion to cover any shaky moments, and to fill the gaps between planned raid cooldowns.

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Mangaza's Madness Icon Mangaza's Madness & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.

Talent Choice:

1.7. Kin'garoth

You will want to angle your camera so you can see the Diabolic Bomb Icon Diabolic Bombs coming well in advance. We prefer Mania Icon Mania here on Mythic, as most of the movement is just shuffle steps to avoid mechanics, but either option is fine. If you have access to a Demonic Gateway Icon Demonic Gateway between the construction bays, you should apply DoTs to two constructs during the Down Phases. Try and avoid as many of the missiles as possible during the Down Phase, as the raid damage is very high during this time.

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Mangaza's Madness Icon Mangaza's Madness & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.

Talent Choice:

1.8. Varimathras

Make sure you damage the Shadows on Mythic, as each bit of damage helps the raid and it will trigger your Twist of Fate Icon Twist of Fate.

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Mangaza's Madness Icon Mangaza's Madness & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.

Talent Choice:

1.9. The Coven of Shivarra

Maintain a roughly centralized position, allowing you to always stay in range of both active bosses. This also allows a large reach during the Torment of the Titans phases; you can reach all four Golganneth adds from the center, for example. You should be able to reach 5 of the Khaz'goroth adds if you stand just outside where the flamethrowers converge, as well. This is typically a very long fight, which allows us to really shine during the Twist of Fate Icon Twist of Fate period.

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Mangaza's Madness Icon Mangaza's Madness & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.

Talent Choice:

1.10. Aggramar

Ensure you apply your DoTs to both Flame of Taeshalach adds during the intermission. Trigger your Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret with Mind Bomb Icon Mind Bomb whenever possible on the Embers for the extra proc.

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Mangaza's Madness Icon Mangaza's Madness & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.

Talent Choice:

1.11. Argus the Unmaker

Always pick up the Strength of the Sky Icon Strength of the Sky if you have your desired amount of Haste already, as more Haste will not dramatically extend your Voidform Icon Voidform compared to the Mastery and Critical Strike from the Sky buff. Ensure you use your second Potion of Prolonged Power Icon Potion of Prolonged Power before the last phase, as it resets once you are killed. A good time or Heroic or lower is during the Constellar Designates phase, where you should be hitting the Shadow Vulnerable add. Save your final potion so that it overlaps with Heroism Icon Heroism / Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust and/or Titanforging Icon Titanforging in the final phase.

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Mangaza's Madness Icon Mangaza's Madness & Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret.
