Overpower is a stacking, additive increase to damage that can be granted through various methods, such as abilities and Legendary Aspects. Unless specifically mentioned, Overpower stacks persist until their timer runs out. Some methods prevent Overpower stacks from being consumed entirely, making it possible for Overpower to become a persistent buff, so long as the stacks can continuously be refreshed.
How to Apply Overpower
Overpower is available to all classes through certain methods, although some have an easier time generating stacks than others due to requiring less setup or not having to use a Legendary Aspect to gather stacks. Certain classes, such as the Warlock, have options to natively generate stacks without the use of an Aspect entirely.
Some skills, items, passives, Paragon Glyphs, and affixes can also increase Overpower’s damage.
How to Recognize Overpower
Below is the icon for Overpower, shown above your Skill Bar where it is tracked with your other buffs.
Its duration is shown through a clockwise animation, letting you know when that specific stack is going to expire. Each stack has its own timer.

- Consumption: Overpower can be consumed by specific abilities and aspects to enhance the specified power.
- Overpower Damage: Baseline, Overpower is a 15%+ additive; however, certain methods, such as Paragon and Glyphs, can increase each Overpower’s stack damage increase.
- Overpower applies only to damage, meaning it does not affect healing and cannot cause skills to critically heal.
Overpower has shifted from a percent proc chance and operating similarly to Critical Strike, to its own simplified system in the Lord of Hatred expansion, making it easier to maintain and enhance.
