Chinese FFXIV Leaks Upcoming 7.4 Gear—But is it Raid Ready?

In case you haven’t heard, Final Fantasy XIV‘s 11th Anniversary is coming up soon 👀! For the global servers, our anniversary begins next week around August 27th! To celebrate their anniversary, the Chinese FFXIV team recently hosted a Developer Q&A, birthday celebrations, and showcased some concept art!

While the Chinese servers don’t necessarily share everything with the global servers, there’s a good chance we’ll see the upcoming items mentioned below! Let’s review the gearset specifically, and determine if it’s worth saving or farming for!

Today’s information comes from the Japanese newsblogger Umadori0726, sourced from the official FFXIV Chinese livestream on bilibili. X user Aitaikimochi also translated the information into English too. In the livestream, the developers shared some “fashionable equipment” (translated) that will release in the upcoming Patch 7.4 gear. In addition, they also showcased the process behind making the Hot Pot mount! We won’t cover the Hot Pot mount today, but perhaps in the future 👀?

What is the New Patch 7.4 Gear?

According to what the Chinese developers previewed, the upcoming Patch 7.4 gear seems very similar to gear from the alliance raid Aglaia or the PVP Republican gearsets. However, there’s no official confirmation on where this gearset is going to be from.

It could be the Arcadion raid series, gathering Allagan tomestones, crafted gearsets, or farming the upcoming dungeon. Maybe even the next update to Occult Crescent? Let’s see some examples from the Eorzea Collection site, which features all gearsets available in-game!

Though the possibilities seem endless, the design motifs make this gearset most likely to not come from the Arcadion raid series. This is because many of the raid equipment designs so far are fairly modern or cyberpunk. Perhaps this is glamour from Occult Crescent or PVP?

If this is a gearset for raiding, it’ll likely have valuable stats that raiders of all levels will care about. In which case, you should save up your currencies as much as possible: your Gil, Allagan Tomestones, or even prepare your crafters if this is a craftable gearset!

But what if it’s just glamour? If this is just another glamour set, it’ll be a hard sell, honestly. Afterall, there are already very similar options seen above, but limited glamour plates and inventory slots. Maybe I’ll change my mind if this is available for all jobs…

Is This Gearset Available For Global FFXIV?

Though the livestream was primarily for Chinese FFXIV players, there is a possibility Global FFXIV will get it too! The livestream’s work-in-progress notes were all in Japanese, which suggests the design developers communicate, or collaborate, with the Japanese development team as well. This is also reflected in what’s available for the Chinese FFXIV mobile game too.

So who knows, we might see this gearset again later! The latest Belt-Leather set was also originally introduced in Korea. Gearset previews happen during Part 2 Live Letters, and our next Live Letter will focus on Patch 7.4. So be sure to look forward to it in late autumn!
