With the release of Version 4.2 for Honkai: Star Rail, several characters are set to receive important updates. Firefly, Welt, Seele, and Huohuo will all be getting buffs that enhance their overall performance. Here’s a look at the changes coming to each character and what to expect as we head into 4.2.
Who are the Character Receiving Buffs?
In Version 4.2, Seele, Welt, Huohuo and Firefly are set to receive character enhancements aimed at improving their overall performance. These updates will include adjustments to their Skills, Traces as well as changes to their Eidolons.
- Firefly – (Destruction: Fire)
- Seele – (The Hunt: Quantum)
- Huohuo – (Abundance: Wind)
- Welt – (Nihility: Imaginary)
What are the Upcoming Changes?
With Version 4.2 introducing a range of character enhancements, this update brings changes to how these characters perform. From adjustments to Skills and Traces to reworked Eidolons, this update aim to refine their strengths and improve overall effectiveness. Below is a breakdown of what’s changing for each character.
Firefly

- Skill Adjustment – “Adds Fire Weakness to one designated enemy target and its adjacent targets, lasting for 2 turns.” (No longer applying to just a single target but to adjacent targets as well)
- Trace update [Module α: Antilag Outburst] – “While in the Complete Combustion state, SAM’s Break Effect increases by 25%. When using Enhanced Basic ATK or Enhanced Skill to inflict Weakness Break on a target, the Complete Combustion countdown is delayed by 10%. This effect can trigger a maximum of 3 time(s) during each Complete Combustion state.” (Replaces the ability to reduce Toughness on non-fire weak enemies with buffs that increase Break Effect and extend the Complete Combustion state.)
- Trace Adjustment [Module β: Autoreactive Armor] – Slighty reduces Break Effect “%” from 200%/ 360% to 150%/300% and enhances Super Break DMG from 35%/ 50% to 100%/ 150%.
- E2 Adjustment – Additionally has a trigger count reset at the start of SAM’s turn.
Huohuo

- Skill Adjustment – Increases outgoing healing values across both the main target and adjacent allies improving overall healing output.
- Talent Adjustment – Extends Divine Provision’s duration and expands its healing triggers, allowing more consistent healing across the team especially for low HP allies.
- Trace Adjustment [The Cursed One] – Additionally increases ATK by 24% when ally’s max energy is 160 or more when using an ultimate.
- E1 Adjustment – Further increases speed to 100% and additional outgoing healing by 20%.
Welt

- Ultimate Adjustment – Enemy targets have their actions delayed by 12.0% rather than 40% and inflicts Slow on all enemies after the use of his ultimate. “When Slow targets are attacked, their actions are delayed by 4.0%. This effect can trigger up to 8 time(s) per target per turn. Slow lasts for 2 turn(s).“
- Talent Adjustment – Additionally reduces enemy DEF when they are in “Weightless State” by 40%.
- Trace Adjustment [Judge] – Fully changed Trace – “When Welt uses Basic ATK or Skill, additionally deals 1 extra instance of Additional DMG to the enemy target. The Additional DMG dealt when using Basic ATK is equal to 80% of Basic ATK DMG multiplier. The Additional DMG dealt when using Skill is equal to 120% of Skill DMG multiplier.”
- Trace Adjustment [Punishment] – Fully changed Trace – “When Welt’s Effect Hit Rate is greater than 40%, for every 10% that exceeds this value, increases ATK by 20%, up to a maximum increase of 80%. When using Ultimate, additionally restores 5 Energy.“
- Replacing ATK Boost with Effect Hit Rate Boost
- E1 Adjustment – When an enemy is in “Weightless State” upon using a skill or ultimate additional instance of imaginary DMG is dealt at 40% on ultimate DMG multiplier. Only once per ATK. No longer uses basic ATK.
- E4 Adjustment – Upon using a skill or ultimate on an enemy in “Slow State” CRIT Rate is increased by 20% as well as increased CRIT DMG by 50%.
- E6 Adjustment – Fully changed – “Enemy targets in the “Weightless” state have their All-Type RES reduced by 30%.”
Seele

- Skill Adjustment – Now increases her speed for 3 turns instead of 2 and increases DMG dealt. In addition to this if a target HP is less than 50% her skill is auto triggered. (Once per turn, no cost).If no targets available her ATK is aimed at the enemy with the lowest HP%.
- Ultimate Adjustment – Deals an increased amount of Quantum DMG.
- Talent Adjustment – Increased from 1 turn to 3 turns.
- Technique Adjustment – Additionally “Deals Quantum DMG equal to Seele’s Skill DMG multiplier to random enemy target 1 time. This DMG is guaranteed CRIT Hit.”
- Trace Adjustment [Nightshade] – Fully changed – “When defeating an enemy target, increases the wearer’s DMG dealt by 50%. This effect can stack up to 3 time(s) and lasts for 3 turn(s).“
- Trace Adjustment [Lacerate] – RES PEN increases from 20% to 25%.
- E1 Adjustment – Additions – “DMG ignores 20% of target’s DEF.“
- E6 Adjustment – Increases “Butterfly Flurry” from 1 turn to 3 turns. Take 1 instance of True DMG equal to 30% rather than 15% Quantum Additional DMG. Seele’s Talent will now also be Triggered when an enemy target is defeated when in “Butterfly Flurry” State.
