As Genshin Impact Version 5.7 prepares to go live, several leaks, tweets and datamined updates have revealed some interesting, and in some cases long-expected, changes to the game’s English voice cast.
Keqing’s English Voice Actor Listing Updated
One of the first discoveries comes from HomDGCat’s 5.7 database, where Keqing’s English voice actor credit now lists “Kayli Mills & Anonymous.” While this does not confirm a full recast yet, it may suggest new dialogue recorded for Keqing under different circumstances, most likely for the upcoming Traveler Anecdotes event where various playable characters will make new appearances.

The change may reflect HoYoverse’s attempt to gradually distance themselves from prior controversies. Kayli Mills has been involved in multiple public controversies in recent months, as well as general drama with other members of the voice acting community. While HoYoverse has not made any official statement, these sorts of adjustments strongly suggest they may be slowly transitioning to a safer long-term solution.
Paimon’s Voice Actor Quietly Replaced in 5.7
Perhaps the most noticeable change concerns Paimon herself. A Reddit post(below) shared several audio files showcasing Paimon’s new voice in Version 5.7 content. While the replacement isn’t officially confirmed yet we do know during a recent interview, Corina Boettger stated they wouldn’t continue voicing Paimon until the game was union-supported. The audio features a distinctly different voice that many have noted sounds far closer to Paimon’s original softer tone from Genshin’s 1.0 days – a shift many longtime players seem pleased about.
At this time, it’s believed this new voice may only apply to newly recorded dialogue in 5.7, with older lines still using the previous recordings until full re-recordings can be completed. This phased replacement makes sense given how extensive Paimon’s lines are given Paimon is generally the stand-in for our MC’s. It’s likely we may see a full voice overhaul applied all at once in Version 5.8 or even 6.0 once everything is fully recorded and ready.
Lumine and Aether’s VA Return Confirmed!
Finally, there is positive news too! Sarah Miller-Crews (Lumine) and Zach Aguilar (Aether) have both confirmed their return to Genshin Impact following the conclusion of the long-standing voice actor strike.
However, don’t expect to immediately hear their voices in 5.7’s upcoming Archon Quest, which remains unvoiced as the patch launches. It will still take some time for their newly recorded lines to be implemented, but this should bring peace of mind to many who were concerned, especially after recent cast changes to the MC’s over in Honkai Star Rail.
