The “Let’s Start with Nod-Krai” livestream just aired today, offering fans of Genshin Impact a first look at what’s coming next. The broadcast focused on the mysterious upcoming region of Nod-Krai, shared exciting lore revelations, and also gave out several new redemption codes for free Primogems and more! Here is a small recap of what was revealed!
What Is Nod-Krai?
The main theme of the livestream was the upcoming content surrounding Nod-Krai, a new and central location in Teyvat. The developers gave us a deep dive into their creative process and explained how they plan to address loose story threads left behind over the years.
They admitted that while they have a lot of story ideas internally, some of that hasn’t always been properly shown to players. This has led to some parts of the story feeling rushed or confusing. Players might have missed out on important story beats because the developers forgot to show things clearly from our point of view.
This year, their goal is to connect these forgotten storylines and bring everything together into a more complete picture. As they put it, they want to “return the stars to the canvas” and make sense of the big picture in Teyvat.
Nod-Krai: The Heart of the Song of the Welkin Moon
The team described Nod-Krai as a bit like Gotham City: a dark, mysterious place where all paths seem to lead. It will become the center of the story in the coming year, during the arc known as the Song of the Welkin Moon, which officially starts after version 5.8.
Many forgotten story elements will come together here, as they all somewhat revolve around the Moon as well, which will be a central element in Nod-Krai:
- The “Moonlit Bamboo Forest” book from Liyue
- The “Before Sun and Moon” text from Sumeru
- Dragonspine
- Tsurumi Island
- The murals in Ochkanatlan
- The Welkin Moon Goddess
- And more
According to the devs, the moon’s power is said to be stronger than all seven elements combined. It’s so pure and powerful that it draws the attention of every major group in Teyvat. Each of these factions, despite having different goals, will gather in Nod-Krai, playing a key role in the Traveler’s journey.
Familiar Faces and New Factions
One of the first characters we’ll meet in Nod-Krai is none other than Grand Master Varka of the Knights of Favonius. He’s already in the region, investigating ancient secrets found by the expedition team.
We’ll also run into the Fatui stronghold, which has ties to the Ancient Moon’s Remnants, as previously mentioned by Mavuika.
Other Factions will also appear:
- Firstmoon Scions – Magic users who protect everything related to the moon
- Voynich Guild – A mysterious merchant organization
- Lightkeepers – Guardians defending Nod-Krai from outside threats
- The Wild Hunt – Calamities emerging from the Abyss
The Song of the Welkin Moon promises many surprises, including more about the Abyss, forgotten lore, and the moon’s connection to Teyvat’s past.
