Why Honkai: Nexus Anima Battles Are Not Just Fights

HoYoverse has been quietly dropping some bite-sized lore pieces for Honkai: Nexus Anima, and the latest “Traveler’s Guide to the Planes” entry takes us straight into the heart of the game’s core concept! We are talking about the Nexus.

What Is the Nexus?

In Honkai: Nexus Anima, the Nexus is basically the invisible web that once connected everything in the universe. No being or object existed in true isolation, everything was tied together by what the game calls Nexus threads.

If you are trying to wrap your head around the Nexus, think of it a bit like atoms. An invisible force connecting everything in the universe. Just like atoms make up all matter, the Nexus threads used to tie together every being, plane, and event. You could not see them, but without them, nothing would hold together.

The Sundering Changed Everything

After the Sundering, those Nexus threads broke, and what was once a harmonious web became scattered fragments, and some of those now appear as the mysterious Nexus Anima you battle in the game.

Enter the Nexus Anima

As mentioned, from the broken fragments came Nexus Anima, creatures born from raw Aspect energy. These are not just random enemies. They are literally pieces of the shattered universe. This could explain why they sometimes look like objects or food or things like that.

Battles That Solve More Than Problems

Animasters now pit these Nexus Anima against one another in organized fights. After the Sundering, Nexus Battles became the accepted way to resolve disputes across planes. Basically: no more chaos, just controlled Anima showdowns.

Understanding the Nexus is not just lore fluff for once, it explains why you are collecting, training, and battling Anima in the game. The story and mechanics are really linked together, and the mystery of the Nexus adds depth to every fight you will face.
