With Neverness to Everness launching soon, players are starting to look beyond characters and banners, and into one of the game’s most unusual systems: Consoles.
If you have seen it already, you know it is not your typical gear system. And if you have not, think less of “artifact farming” and more of an “old Tetris game”.
What Are Consoles in Neverness to Everness?
In Neverness to Everness, your characters do not just equip weapons (called Arcs), but they also use Consoles, and those will act as your main gear system. So basically, instead of rolling random stats on fixed items, Consoles are built using Cartridges and Modules, physical pieces that you place into a grid. Each piece has:
- A specific shape
- A type (I, II, III…)
- Predefined stats (yes, you can preview everything)
That last point is one of the most important, because unlike most gacha systems, there is very little RNG here. You are not endlessly farming for the “perfect roll,” but you are more just solving a layout puzzle.
A System Built Around Positioning, Not Luck
There are currently 12 types of Cartridges:
- 6 Elemental
- 6 General
Each character also has their own Console layout and Tetris-style passive, and those basically reward how you place pieces. On top of that, set bonuses require specific combinations of pieces, you cannot just stack one type for broken stats, and optimization comes from smart placement, not RNG
In practice, this means two players with the same pieces can end up with very different builds depending on how they arrange them.
The Problem: It Gets Complicated Fast
That freedom is great, but it also makes things harder to plan.
- What pieces should you prioritize?
- How do you activate set bonuses efficiently?
- Are you wasting space or missing better combinations?
That is where things can get messy, especially once you start optimizing for endgame builds.
A Tool to Actually Test Your Builds
To make this easier, there is now a Console Tool available on Icy Veins that lets you experiment with builds before committing in-game.

With it, you can:
- Select a character
- Place Modules directly into the Console grid
- Test different layouts and combinations
- Optimize your Cartridges and set bonuses visually
Instead of guessing or manually trying dozens of combinations, you can map everything out in seconds.
Neverness to Everness Console and Module ToolIf you ignore the Console system, you will leave a lot of power on the table. If you understand it, though, it becomes one of the most flexible and rewarding parts of the game.
And tools like this make that learning curve a lot easier to deal with, especially at launch, so do not hesitate to check it out!
