The launch of Season 9 in New World: Aeternum comes with a handful of updates, revamps, and new content, but one of the largest updates coming is related to artifacts. Season 9 introduces three new artifacts to New World: Aeternum, and even some revamps to some pre-existing ones to drive further build diversity.
The list below highlights every new artifact coming to season 9 of New World:
Plagueherald Mask
Once used by a mysterious plague doctor of Aeternum, the Plagueherald Mask turns disease into a deadly weapon. Ideal for aggressive support builds or disruptors, it punishes enemies with stacking on top of each other, while requiring careful timing and positioning.
At first glance, it seems like this artifact will be a great addition to certain Void Gauntlet builds. The full list of perks for this artifact can be found below.
- Plaguespreader: Abilities and light attacks inflict a stack of 3% Disease (max 10 stacks). You also gain 1% Disease per stack applied. At 10 stacks, heavy attacks consume all stacks to trigger a 6s cloud around the target, inflicting 20% Disease and 10% Weaken to nearby enemies (12s cooldown).
- Gem Slot: Leeching Spectral Ward
- Refreshing
- Freedom
- Random Perk
Hammer of Yeet
A spring-loaded relic of unknown origin, the Hammer of Yeet launches foes with explosive force and converts knockbacks into chain-damage opportunities.
This artifact was actually already within the game at some point (the PvP Seasonal World), and it was a fan favorite! This build will not only be a great new source of Rend but also will be a lot of fun as you throw players back after a big swing of this hammer. The full list of perks for this artifact can be found below.
- Yeet: +300% push distance and +10% base damage to all War Hammer knockbacks. Clear Out ignites the first target hit, turning them into a projectile that deals 100% weapon damage to enemies they pass through.
- Sundering Clear Out
- Plagued Strikes
- Alternating Enchantment
- Random Perk
Crescent’s Wave
Infused with volatile arcane energy, the Crescent’s Wave gives Greatsword users a magical ranged option with a mana-driven twist. Its unique wave mechanic creates windows for high burst at long range.
This artifact also was included in the previous PvP Seasonal World, and was also a lot of fun. This Greatsword allows users to actually summon large waves out of the weapon, adding a whole new twist to using the Greatsword! The full list of perks for this artifact can be found below.
- Parallax: +12% base damage to targets farther than 10m (applies to both weapons).
- Crescent Wave: While above 50% health, heavy attacks cast a projectile forward dealing 150% weapon damage. Melee heavy attack damage is reduced by 50%. Each wave costs 20 mana.
- Thwarting Strikes
- Sundering Stacks
- Random Perk
Artifact Revamps
Additionally, there were multiple artifacts that were previously barely touched, leading the team to mix things up and change their primary perks a bit. The artifacts listed below will have the following adjustments starting in season 9.
- Vengeance: New unique perk will be known as “Life Support”. Outgoing healing is increased by 25% when not affected by any Life Staff HoT effects. When basic attacks pass through allies, they gain 20% stamina regen and 30% mana regen for 3s.
- Grey Wizard’s Hat: New unique perk will be known as “Quickened Casting”. While above 50% mana, magic weapon ranged heavy attacks charge 25% faster.
- Creed: The updated “Ambush” perk changes this artifact completely. Backstabs and headshots deal 20% increased crit damage and apply 10% Weaken for 5s. You also gain 10% Empower and 10% crit chance for 5s. (Target cannot be Ambushed again for 15s).
