One of the coolest details in 007 First Light is not a gadget, a car, or even a mission. It is the wardrobe.

A new video shared by GameSpot shows that many of the outfits available for young Bond in the game are direct references to costumes worn throughout the history of the James Bond film franchise. And that is a pretty cool detail!

Bond’s Movie History Is All Over The Closet

According to GameSpot’s comparison video, a lot of the unlockable outfits closely recreate iconic looks from older Bond films, including some dating all the way back to the Sean Connery era. The classic tuxedo is one of the most obvious examples, looking nearly identical to the suit worn by Connery during the early years of the franchise.

The references are not limited to one specific generation of Bond either. The game pulls inspiration from multiple eras, turning the customization into a collection of small nods for longtime fans of James Bond.

More Than Just Fan Service

Since 007 First Light tells a completely original Bond origin story, IO Interactive has generally avoided directly copying any single movie version of the character. Instead, the studio seems to be treating the outfits as a way to celebrate the long history of the franchise and, at the same time, still letting this younger Bond feel like his own version of 007.

It is a small detail, but for longtime Bond fans, spotting references that go over decades of movies may end up being one of the most enjoyable parts of unlocking new cosmetics in this game.

And if you have the game, you can probably dig through missions to find even more hidden references to Bond’s adventures!
