If you figured the Genshin Impact anime had died in a drawer somewhere, well… it has not! The topic is officially back!

Today, Japanese animation studio Ufotable released a promotional highlights video showing lots of what it is working on for 2026 and beyond, and tucked near the end was a new teaser for the long-awaited Genshin Impact anime.

The clip is brief, basically the game’s main Travelers, Aether and Lumine, reaching out to each other, but it is the first “behind-the-scenes” look in years, and it finally confirms the project is still very much alive.

An Ongoing Project

This anime adaptation was originally announced in 2022 as a multi-year collaboration between HoYoverse and Ufotable, the studio behind massive animes like Demon Slayer, but after the initial concept teaser, there was almost no official news for a long time. That silence led some fans to worry the project had been canceled.

If you never saw the original teaser or need a reminder, here was the original video:

Today’s video does not give a release date or format (series? movie? how many episodes?), nor does it show anything more than that tiny sequence with the Travelers. But it does do one thing fans really needed: put the anime back on the radar and confirm it is still in development.

The new footage was buried among other announcements, including updates on Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Part 2 and other titles Ufotable has lined up. This makes it even better as a surprise for Genshin fans.

There is still no word on when the anime will actually come out. Current speculation has pointed toward a possible 2027 start, but today’s teaser did not confirm that. What we do know now is simply that Ufotable has not forgotten the project, and it is not dead.

For anyone who gave up hope after years of silence, today’s promo video is a clear “we are still working on it,” and that is enough to get us excited again!
