Angela and Daredevil Arrive in Marvel Rivals Season 4

Marvel Rivals just unveiled their upcoming Season 4, and with it comes a lot of changes. With Season 4, players are traveling to K’un-Lun, where our newest heroes, Angela the One-Winged Angel, and Daredevil, the Man Without Fear, are battling it out over the Heart of Dragon.

Marvel Rivals Season 4 Lore

The story of Marvel Rivals continues, as players are about to embark into the mythical city of K’un-Lun. Initially, players speculated that we would eventually visit K’un-Lun due to past leaks. This theory grew more popular as one of Hela’s Lore pages during the latter half of Season 3 said that she was now atoning in the Eighth City with Dizang.

But now, the Timestream Entanglement has drawn K’un-Lun, the Seven Capitals, & the Eighth City together, forming the Heart of Heaven. Now it’s confirmed that after Knull’s defeat, Hela is imprisoned in the An’Hay-Zhidi, where Dizang—Devil of the Eighth City—dares her to atone for her sins. But Angela will not forgive her betrayal. She arrives in the Heart of Heaven demanding Hela be handed over, yet its guardian refuses to surrender someone under his protection.

This is a very interesting twist, as Dizang is a figure in Buddhist mythology who helps souls in the afterlife. But in Marvel Rivals lore, Dizang is actually Daredevil, who sacrificed himself to redeem lost souls, thus making him the ruler of the Eighth City.

Ranked Placements

While initially announced during the 9th Dev Vision, Marvel Rivals will eventually be getting placement matches implemented for ranked. However, they will not be available at the launch of Season 4, as the devs have stated it requires a lot of retuning of the current system to make this work. So in future seasons, expect to start every ranked grind with placement matches.

Arcade Mode Update

In Marvel Rivals Season 4, we are getting a big update to the Arcade, with several new and old game modes making a return. For starters, past game modes such as Giant-Size Brain Blast and Clone Rumble are making permanent returns. While other new modes are being added. In total, players can expect to find:

  • Conquest, Doom Match
  • Conquest (Annihilation)
  • Free Fight
  • Giant-Size Brain Blast
  • Clone Rumble

All will be accessible from the Arcade Mode hub. This gives players new and alternative ways to play Marvel Rivals, and the devs have noted that you can queue for one or all Arcade modes at once.

Ultimate Ability Custom VFX Now Global

In previous seasons, custom ultimate ability visual effects (VFX) for certain skins were only visible to the player using the skin. However, starting in Season 4, all players will be able to see these special effects if the user has purchased the Ultimate VFX upgrade. Additionally, for those who prefer more clarity, there will be an option in the settings to toggle the visibility of these bonus effects.

Skins and Custom Features

Season 4 is also bringing a lot of new skins and minor features to Marvel Rivals. Players can expect to see:

  • New Accessories are coming on September 25th.
  • Part 2 of the 2025 Swim Suit Skin lineup drops September 18th.
  • Favoriting heroes, thus making it easier to pick them at the start of a match.
  • Players on PC will now be able to slow walk.
  • Changing Chat text color and adding animated emojis.

All of this and more will start on September 12th, with Angela being available day one. Daredevil will arrive later in the mid-season patch.
