Battlefield 6: Deploy Beacon Swapped to Assault Class

Battlefield 6 - Nightvision - Steam

It’s safe to say that the Open Beta for Battlefield 6 is going extremely well. While several gameplay elements, such as the class system, accompanied by fan-favorite maps and modes, have returned, there has been one very noticeable change. The developers have made a surprising decision to move the deploy beacon, a known tool from the Recon class, to the Assault class.

A Change For the Better?

As a veteran Battlefield fan, you undoubtedly recall or frequently encounter camping Recon snipers in nearly every match on older titles. This class focuses on spotting targets and eliminating infantry from a distance, but players often use the deploy beacon to set up in challenging-to-counter sniper nests.

The problem persists even if you manage to eliminate a squad of Recon players; they typically have a stack of respawn beacons ready to keep their camping spot up and running. This tool primarily aims to keep your squad in the fight or provide a backup spawn for members to respawn behind enemy lines, but that hasn’t always been the case.

By giving the deploy beacon to the Assault class instead of the Recon class, it is likely an attempt to eliminate those camping nests and encourage the close-range class to utilize this tool more for their squad.

A New Meta For Battlefield 6

Not only has the deploy beacon moved classes, but its functionality has also slightly changed. The deploy beacon now only has a limited amount of uses per squad, but most importantly, if the Assault who placed it respawns with it, it’s destroyed. This eliminates endless spawn loops that were persistent in older Battlefield games, particularly on certain maps like Siege of Shanghai or Operation Firestorm.

Fans have already begun discussing this huge change, with most being in favor of the substantial change to the gadget pool.

But what do you think? Is this a good enough change that will shake up some annoying gameplay styles that were somewhat common in older Battlefield games? Or do you think this lowers the reasons for players to play Recon in Battlefield 6? Be sure to let us know and keep an eye on our latest news!
