It looks like Capcom may have another hit on its hands!

Pragmata, Capcom’s new sci-fi action-adventure IP, is off to a strong start on Steam. The game has already passed 50,000 concurrent players, alongside more than 2,000 user reviews, currently sitting at an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating!

For such a new IP, those are very solid numbers right after launch!

Extremely Positive Feedback

What is interesting is not just the player count, but also the kind of feedback the game is getting. A lot of early reviews highlight how Pragmata feels different from most modern AAA releases. Several players compare it to older-era action games, with a more focused, single-player experience instead of a live-service structure.

The gameplay, in particular, seems to be landing well. The mix of shooting and real-time hacking has been called surprisingly smooth, with players basically quickly switching between combat and puzzle-like mechanics mid-fight. It is the kind of system that sounds clunky on paper, but multiple reviews say it “just works.”

Then there is Diana.

The young android companion is clearly the emotional base of the game, and players are already attached. A lot of reviews mention her interactions, personality, and how she evolves alongside the story, and that is something that adds weight to what could otherwise be a standard sci-fi setup.

Performance Plays a Big Role

Performance is another point in Capcom’s favor. Many players report stable performance even on high settings, and given the number of games that come out “unfinished” today, it is really an important point for a lot of players. Capcom is delivering a polished PC release at launch, something that is still far from guaranteed with AAA games.

Between the very good technical state, positive reception, and clear player interest, Pragmata is going to be more than just another experimental game. It might really be the kind of new IP success that big publishers do not produce very often anymore.

It proves that players love innovation, original gameplay, and unique, beautiful stories.
