Deadlock is continuing to surge in popularity after all six new heroes were released. Despite previous weeks breaking the recent peak in player count, the release of their newest hero, Victor, has broken that record once again.
Deadlock Is on the Rise
Right at the start of this month, Deadlock broke into the 60k player count. Once again proving that despite the initial rise and fall in popularity back in 2024, Deadlock is back.

Although Deadlock had several big updates this year. Including a full rework to the map, which cut the original 4 lane system down to three, and a full rework to the Item shop, including brand new items, reworks, and icons. It seems that despite all these changes, what ultimately drew people back is these new heroes, and for the most part, it is working.
According to Statlocker.gg, all six new heroes currently have between over 60 to 80% pick rates, whereas more popular heroes like Seven or Haze struggle even to match that pick rate. But once the hype begins to die down, is this enough to keep players around this time?
The Future of Deadlock
While we don’t know much about Deadlock’s future, what we do know is that Icefrog has been working on Deadlock for about two years or more.
For those who don’t know who Icefrog is, they are Dota 2’s lead developer, and most say they practically made Dota 2. While you may or may not have played Dota 2, everyone knows that it’s been a titan of the MOBA industry since 2013. So if Deadlock has Icefrog working on it, we can now only expect bigger and better things for Deadlock’s future.
But what do you think? Will Deadlock continue to keep players around after this update’s hype dies down, or will it fade back into a light obscurity? Be sure to let us know and keep an eye on our latest news for more updates!
