Fellowship Playtest Peaks at 18K Players Ahead of Early Access

Fellowship was officially announced to release in early access this October, 2025. After Gamescom, the developers have held a Q&A session, here is a quick overview of what was discussed.

With the Fellowship playtest nearing its conclusion, the game has seen an impressive surge in players. On Saturday, the peak player count soared to around 18,000, pushing Fellowship into the top 100 on Steam Charts.

The Final Fellowship Playtest

While Fellowship has hosted playtests before, this one clearly stands out as the largest and most successful in the game’s history. Many previous tests were private, so direct comparisons aren’t possible. However, SteamDB records three notable playtests—one in 2024 and one earlier in 2025—and none reached the heights of this latest test.

A Historic Success for Fellowship

Aside from minor networking hiccups that were swiftly resolved, the playtest ran smoothly. Combat and gearing remain as addictive as ever, while changes to dungeons have shaken up old metas.

Character reworks have been particularly impactful. While not every character received major updates, some, like Helena, now have powerful new tools for tackling dungeons. Talent reworks across the board have also been well-received, giving players fresh strategies and playstyles.

Fellowship continues to deliver exciting new characters. Mara, reminiscent of the Rogue archetype, has already become a community favorite, climbing the playtester leaderboards with ease.

Unfortunately, some fan favorites, like the lightning-infused barbarian Tariq, weren’t included in this final test. Many players are hoping for a rework when Fellowship officially launches into Early Access on Steam on October 9th.
