A recent, new leak has given us a first look at what the PlayStation 6 might bring to the table. According to YouTube channel Moore’s Law is Dead, Sony is working on a console that could leave the PS5 in the dust. Nothing here is official yet, but if these numbers are real, the jump in power will be huge.
You can check the full video here. If you want the short version, we have put the highlights together in an easy-to-follow recap.
Performance Jump Over PS5
The leak suggests the PS6 could deliver up to 8x the overall performance of the PS5, including:
- 2.5–3x faster rasterized graphics
- Up to 12x better ray tracing
That would mean native 4K at 120 FPS on a console. If you are still gaming on an older TV, the PS6 might be the reason to finally move to a higher refresh rate screen.
Beyond pure power, and if any of the leaked info is true (as per Moore’s Law is Dead), Sony reportedly wants to focus on how games feel. AI systems may let players talk directly to NPCs through a mic instead of picking dialogue options, explosions could change dynamically based on the environment, and procedural tools would create more variety in enemies and animals. The idea is to make game worlds feel less static and more alive.
CPU and GPU Rumors
Sony is said to be working with AMD on a custom Orion APU. The reported specs are:
- Up to 10 Zen 6 CPU cores
- 52–54 RDNA 5 GPU compute units
- 34–40 TFLOPs of GPU performance
Memory and New Tech
- 30–40 GB of GDDR7 RAM
- Support for AMD FSR4 upscaling
- Next-level ray tracing features
Put together, this points to a console built for huge game worlds and advanced visuals that hold up against modern PC builds.
Backward Compatibility
The PS6 is expected to keep using the x86 architecture. That should mean PS4 and PS5 games will run, but PS3 titles are unlikely due to the Cell Processor.
Competition and Release Window
On the other side, Microsoft’s next-gen system, rumored to be called Xbox Magnus, could end up about 25 percent more powerful. Current leaks point to a 2027 launch window for the PS6, but nothing is confirmed yet.
Nevertheless, if these leaks are accurate, the PlayStation 6 could be one of the biggest jumps we have seen in console hardware. From 4K at 120 FPS to RTX 5090-level graphics, Sony looks ready to push into the next era of gaming. For now, it is all speculation, but it is fun to think about what the next decade might look like.
