PlayStations Future Might Not Be on PlayStation at All

Playstation Exclusives on Xbox? Bloodborne

Could Sony Be Going Fully Multiplatform?

In case you missed it, a new PlayStation job listing caught attention this week, and it points to a much bigger multiplatform push than expected.

The position is for a Sr. Director of Multiplatform & Account Management, and the role involves working directly with Xbox, Steam, Epic, Nintendo Switch, and even mobile platforms.

It is a pretty big deal, especially since Sony already broke the ice by bringing Helldivers 2 to PC and, most recently, to Xbox.

Helldivers 2 Xbox

So… are we heading for a world where previously known PlayStation exclusives could end up on Xbox, too?

What the Community Thinks

On Reddit, the thread blew up with speculation, jokes, and debate. Here is a quick summary of what players are saying:

  • It is happening more and more – Sony has been porting older games to PC for years, and live-service games like Helldivers 2 are leading the way on Xbox too.
  • Console wars are basically over – With Game Pass, PS Plus, and multiplatform releases, most players care more about access than hardware loyalty.
  • Financially… It makes sense – AAA development is expensive. Putting older exclusives on more platforms means more sales with low risk.
  • Not everyone is happy about it – A few longtime PlayStation fans worry that losing exclusivity weakens the brand. However, the majority think more access is always a good thing.
  • Nintendo is doing its own thing – Even though Xbox and PlayStation start to overlap more and more, Nintendo keeps doing its own thing, and keeps winning.

Could Bloodborne Be Next?

Of course, it would not be a PlayStation thread without someone asking for Bloodborne on PC. That request is still going strong, and classics like Sly Cooper, Shadow of the Colossus, and Jak & Daxter get brought up too.

Sony could be setting up a long-term strategy here, one where major first-party titles come to other platforms after a delay, or even launch simultaneously, depending on the game.

A Different Kind of Console War

Instead of pushing for hardware dominance, both Sony and Microsoft seem more focused on services and reach. If Xbox starts supporting Steam natively in its next-gen console, and Sony continues expanding outside its own ecosystem, we might see the end of platform walls altogether.

Multiplatform used to be a compromise. Now it might be the whole point.
