Risk of Rain 2 recently dropped a brand new announcement for their newest DLC, the Hallowed Concepts. Survivors will now have to brave the dark, unknown lands of Petrichor V to uncover the hidden secrets of the N’tormat.
New Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts Info
This trailer appears to expand on the darker implications of the Risk of Rain lore. As we have seen in past expansions, this DLC builds on a fourth religious cult, separate from Providence, Mithrix, or the False Son, which many have assumed to be N’kuhaha. The lore implications for this DLC could be massive, from expanding upon species related to the Mini Mushroom, detailing more of what happened to the initial crew of the UES Contact Light after slaying Providence, to expanding the interpersonal religions of the species that inhabit Petrichor V.
But recently, the devs just released an update announcing that fans will get their first look at the DLC this Thursday, the 21st, at 10 am PT.
The Background of N’kuhaha
For those who are unaware, N’kuhaha is a deity-adjacent figure in Risk of Rain’s lore, referred to in the log of the legendary item N’kuhaha’s opinion. In the lore entry, N’kuhaha is characterized as “the great equalizer” between health and time, implied to be a Grim Reaper-Adjacent figure that has been suppressed due to the utopia that Providence brought to Petrichor V. This allows the species that worships her to birth their young excessively and live far longer. At the end of the log for this item, the description appears to be an excerpt from a religious book of some sort, “The N’tormat”, right after the first verse. Hopefully, we can see more of this religious book in item descriptions and area logs in this DLC.

Another important thing to note about N’kuhaha is that her Altar is in a secret tunnel beneath the Wetland Aspect Environment. This altar has a horned humanoid skeleton suspended over a seemingly endless pit. In order to unlock the Achievement “Her Concepts”, you would have to destroy this skeleton, unlocking N’kuhaha’s Opinion for your future runs. N’kuhaha has always been a bizarre figure in the Risk of Rain Lore that not many know about, and it’s still up in the air what species that skeleton at the Altar was.
But what do you think? Will Gearbox deliver another successful Risk of Rain 2 DLC, or will this be another rocky start like Seekers of the Storm? In the meantime, keep an eye on our Other Games section for more updates.
