Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4 introduces a new “Novaflare” Character Enhancement System, reworking kits and Eidolons for many beloved characters! Will the first update revolutionize the current character tiers, or will it change nothing at all?
To learn more about Novaflare and which character reworks are happening, read on!
Tell Me More About Novaflare!

To summarize, the “Novaflare” character enhancement system adjusts characters’ abilities and sometimes their entire kit. This way, characters become more cohesive, and perhaps, significantly better than what they used to be. Starting in Version 3.4, adjusted characters will have a “Character Enhancement” button added to their character page. Here, you can view the rework details for the selected character.

If you choose to opt-out of the enhancements, the selected character will not benefit from any enhancement effects available. Perhaps you’re happy with the current character kits, or maybe you want a challenge? Anyway, the option to turn-off (or turn back on) will be there on release with the “Novaflare” system, so you don’t have to worry!
Which Characters Are Getting a Rework?
In the upcoming Version 3.4 update, Honkai: Star Rail will begin reworks with four 5-star characters: Silver Wolf, Blade, Kafka, and Jingliu. All of these characters first released between Versions 1.1 to 1.4, which makes them some of the oldest characters in the game so far!
Silver Wolf Changes

First on the list, the genius hacker Silver Wolf! Currently, her kit revolves around “injecting bugs” and debuffing enemies. But the problem is that she focuses a little too much on single-target damage. Now, her rework provides some much needed AOE adjustments, such as:
- Ultimate User Banned now attacks and reduces the DEF for all enemies, not just one target.
- Skill Allow Changes? will prioritize the Weakness corresponding to the ally character’s Type in the first team position. So now, you no longer have randomized Weaknesses nor need mono-type teams!
- Bonus Ability Inject additionally regenerates Energy at the start of battle and turn, at 20 Energy and 5 Energy respectively.
Other adjustments also include:
- Talent Awaiting System Response…
- Bonus Ability Generate
- Bonus Ability Side Note
- Eidolon 2: Zombie Network
- Eidolon 4: Bounce Attack

Blade Changes

The “silent but deadly” Blade’s current kit revolves around consuming HP to deal enhanced attacks. He can dish out some impressive damage, but it doesn’t increase much alone. As a result, his reworked kit gives him some much needed Aggro and HP-based damage multipliers:
- Most of his Traces now deal damage based on Blade’s maximum HP. The Trace abilities include:
- Basic ATK Shard Sword
- Enhanced Basic ATK Forest of Swords
- Ultimate Death Sentence
- Talent Shuhu’s Gift
- Bonus Ability Neverending Deaths
- After Blade does a Follow-up ATK, the Cyclone of Destruction additionally regenerates 15 Energy.
- After using Skill Hellscape, Blade will have a higher chance of being attacked. So this is great for generating charges for his Cyclone of Destruction!
Other adjustments also include:
- Bonus Ability Vita Infinita
- Eidolon 1 Blade Cuts the Deepest in Hell

Kafka Changes

Calm, collected, and beautiful… What more could players ask of the Stellaron hunter Kafka? Her current kit requires her allies to deal Basic ATK and DoT damage, so she can deal Follow-up ATKs. However, this can feel limiting for her teams at times, especially if they like using Skill Points. Now, Kafka’s rework allows her to help her teammates better:
- Skill Caressing Moonlight now detonates additional damage on all attack targets, not just the primary one.
- Any attack from her allies can now trigger Kafka’s Follow-up ATK! The Follow-up ATK trigger charges will increase whenever:
- Kafka ends her turn, or
- Kafka uses her Ultimate Twilight Trill
- Kafka’s Bonus Ability Torture can now grant a 100% ATK buff to allies. This is great for making Nihility and debuff-focused teams stronger!
Other adjustments also include:
- Eidolon 1: Da Capo
- Eidolon 2: Fortississimo

Jingliu Changes
And last, but not least, the legendary “Transcendent Flash” Jingliu had her entire kit reworked! Before, her Traces used to only have ATK-focused multipliers, which kind of… didn’t really work that well in practice. Especially when she really wanted to maximize on HP. So this is now fixed in the changes below:
- Most of her Traces now deal damage based on Jingliu’s maximum HP. The Trace abilities include:
- Basic ATK Lucent Moonglow
- Skill Transcendent Flash
- Enhanced Skill Moon on Glacial River
- Ultimate Florephemeral Dreamflux
- Technique Shine of Truth
- Talent Crescent Transmigration now adds a new stack charge called “Moonlight”, increasing Jingliu’s CRIT DMG up to 5 times. Whenever allies’ HP decrease, her “Moonlight” and “Syzygy” stacks will both increase.
- After entering the Spectral Transmigration state, Jingliu increases her maximum “Syzygy” stacks to 4. Additionally, she also gains 1 stack of “Syzygy” when she enters this state. So if she has the maximum number of “Syzygy” stacks, her next attack will ignore 25% of the target’s DEF.
Other adjustments also include:
- Bonus Ability Frost Wraith (as part of Talent Crescent Transmigration)
- Bonus Ability Deathrealm
- Bonus Ability Sword Champion
- Eidolon 1: Moon Crashes Tianguan Gate
- Eidolon 4: Lunarlance Shines Skyward Dome
- Eidolon 6: Eclipse Hollows Corporeal Husk

What did you think of Honkai: Star Rail‘s first character rework? Initially, I wasn’t expecting Jingliu to change this much! Overall, I think the changes are pretty healthy for the game right now. But perhaps some other older characters will be reworked too?
