If you are waiting to return to Albion, you will have to be a little more patient. Xbox has officially confirmed that Fable has been pushed back to February 2027, and they explained that they basically want the game to have the “dedicated moment it deserves.”

Delays are often linked to development challenges, but Xbox’s explanation just means that they figured 2026 is already an incredibly busy year, and they do not want the game to be overshadowed by anything else.

Xbox’s 2026 Calendar Is Full

In the statement released this week, Xbox highlighted all the other main games currently planned for 2026, including:

  • Halo: Campaign Evolved
  • Gears of War: E-Day
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
  • Control Resonant
  • Star Wars: Galactic Racer
  • Grand Theft Auto VI

With so many huge games that will already be competing for attention, Xbox says moving Fable into early 2027 will allow the RPG to stand on its own rather than getting lost in the mass. If anything, this is one of the best reasons to delay a game. A lot of players are waiting for this Fable game, and it would be a shame if it did not get the recognition it deserves after all this time!

A New Look at Fable Is Coming Soon

The good news is that you will not have to wait until 2027 to see more of the game. Xbox confirmed that Fable will still be featured during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, during the Summer Game Fest. You can expect a new look at the beloved fantasy RPG series!

They also teased additional updates on other games during the event, making the showcase one of the most anticipated presentations of the Summer Game Fest season.

Fable remains one of Xbox’s most important upcoming exclusives, and expectations are pretty high since the project was first announced. The additional development time could ultimately benefit both the developers and players, especially for a franchise making its return after so many years.

For now, the release date may have moved, but Xbox fans can at least look forward to seeing more of Albion very soon when the Xbox Games Showcase goes live on June 7!
