WoW Forever will be bringing back one of Azeroth’s most memorable quests!
Players recently noticed that “Kyle’s Gone Missing!” was absent from the beta, despite the quest being found in Mulgore in later versions of WoW. The community quickly started asking Blizzard to bring it back, and it looks like those requests have been heard.
The quest follows Ahab Wheathoof, a Tauren farmer searching for his missing dog, Kyle. Players are sent off to find some Tender Strider Meat and use it to lure Kyle home. On the surface, it’s a small side quest about feeding a lost dog, but there’s a much more meaningful story behind it.
The quest was created for Ezra Phoenix (EPhoenix) Chatterton, a young WoW player who visited Blizzard through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Ezra helped design the quest and even provided Ahab’s voice lines. He sadly passed away from brain cancer in 2008.
As the quest was originally added during The Burning Crusade, it wasn’t included in WoW Forever’s foundation. Players argued that this was one piece of WoW history worth making an exception for.
After a player asked for Ahab and Kyle to be brought back, one of Blizzard’s community managers Kaivax responded on September 28th:
For now, this is all Blizzard has confirmed. The quest hasn’t appeared in the current beta, and there’s no word yet on whether it will be ready for WoW Forever’s November 4th launch or arrive in a later update.
Nevertheless, it looks like we will be helping Kyle find his way home to Ahab Wheathoof once again!
