10-80 Under 2 Hours? Spam Timewalking Dungeons While You Can

Staff's Avatar by Staff

We have both a really fast max level run as well as a PSA for you today. A player managed to get a really, really fast run from level 10 to 80, but only managed to do it with Timewalking and the current XP buffs, and those things will change soon.

10-80, but With a Tank/Healer or Buddy

It’s Danta once again poking around WoW’s leveling speeds, but this time there’s no video! It’s just a pretty simple setup of running all Classic Timewalking dungeons. Nothing fancy, just a whole lot of easy-access XP buffs and, well, a tank or healer.

As you’ll notice above, the Zandalari Paladin got carried. In Danta’s instance, he didn’t need anyone to help them as he was using his own alt on a different account. The tank made sure the dungeon queues were super fast (and cleared the dungeons quickly as well) while the Paladin just tagged along for the ride. You can get the same thing done with a tank or healer buddy (or leveling your own tank/healer, obviously), but considering this one was a twink and probably had some solid Timewalking gear, it may take a little longer.

The XP buffs used were pretty basic:

  • 25% from Five Warband Mentors: The War Within iconFive Warband Mentors: The War Within
  • 20% from Winds of Mysterious Fortune iconWinds of Mysterious Fortune
  • 10% from Bottle of Mysterious Wisdom iconBottle of Mysterious Wisdom potion
  • 10% from Draught of Ten Lands iconDraught of Ten Lands from Service Medal quartermasters in Boralus and Dazar’alor. You need to use another potion before level 50, as you can’t drink them anymore after that, but the buff works while it’s on.

Danta isn’t even done yet, as he’s heading for 100 level 80 characters. Because…?

Don’t Miss Out

There are two major factors going away from the above method. One of them is leaving really soon and the other not that long after that. The Winds of Mysterious Fortune event ends with this weekly reset on May 20th. It takes with it 20 or 30% of the XP buff, depending on how many potions you’ve managed to stock up on. The potions will still work after the event ends, but you won’t be able to get any new ones.

The other, probably more relevant change, is coming with patch 11.1.7. Timewalking will be undergoing a major change, adding a lot more difficulty and making speedruns more tricky/not really possible at this level. The patch is expected to release on June 17th, but there’s been no official confirmation yet. For the full details on what’s changing in Timewalking, head on over here.

So if you have any more alts go get up to speed or new classes/specs you want to play, now’s the time! Find a tank or healer buddy or boost yourself and have some more alts ready for… well anything really.
